  1. Nice site. And this may be a stooooooopid question but doesn't that site remind you of another site we dearly love? Or is that just a coinkidink...
  2. DId you "upgrade" from ME to Win2K directly? or with a clean formatted HD? If you did it directly over it, try reformatting and installing again. If it doesn't recognize some hardware, ya can install the drivers in later. Let us know what happens again.
  3. WOW!!! dude, calm down. Take a breather and take a step back. You might have missed a step or two when reinstalling. You gotz so many years of experience here, with quick replies so give us the step by step of what you did. Why can't you install a driver for you network card? How did you format your HD, as in FAT16, 32, etc.
  4. What are your top 5 applications (not games or the usual virusscan/Office/etc.) that you MUST HAVE... like when you get stuck on a deserted island that miraculously has a comp and a power outlet.... or for work.. Mine would be.. hm... not in particular order: 1. Any English/Japanese Translator/dictionary(Since i work in japan) 2. Norton Ghost 2003 3. Adobe Photoshop 7.0 4. WS-FTP Pro 5. Nero
  5. LMAO! I had a similar problem with my XP/ati7500 not so long ago. I went to the ATI home site and the usual blah blah blah about what driver to install how to ID you card and what not. Basically, your video card is "powered by Ati" NOT "built by Ati". Most of the time its no biggie but sometimes you get problems like this when its made by 3rd party companies. I tried to fix it within windows but it just got too frustrating so I just reinstalled XP with the new vid card inside. It autodetected it and stuff and the problem was solved. On a side not, the 7500 may have come as 64 but it still lacks any real power and can't handle games in the likes of Warcraft3. I upgraded to the 8500(not a long term solution but then what really is) for a cheap price and so maybe you should give back or sell off the 7500 and get a new card.
  6. 25 here. I first learned to use a calculator when I was 2 so 23 years. nah, nah, nah.. for real was in 5th grade, had some OLD OLD OLD Texas Instrument computers or something like that and did some things that I have no idea what we did. She tried to teach us BASIC, I think. All I remember is: 10 REM age program 20 Input "What is your age Elite?";A 30 Let B=Doggie+ThaFlier+MissKelli 40 If A>B, then print "**** thats old" 50 Else "**** thats still too old" 60 End
  7. Japan has had the G3 out since late 2001, early 2002. A company by the name of NTT Docomo started it out but has not had the success they thought it would because of the cost of the phones and the enormous monthly service fees. The other 2 major mobile phone companies here in japan, AU and J-phone have pushed back their G3 releases following the lackluster performance of Docomo. However, the second generation phones are still chugging away as they add more and more and more useless functions that people get dependant on.. like paying your utility bills, games, music, 28.8k download speeds(to d/l what I still have yet to fully understand). Email, alarm and checkin out some news pages is all I use... oh yea, phone calls too.
  8. I went to vote for the site following the link on the main page and saw that there was only 7 votes, after me that is. Now come on ya'll.. I know I see more than 7 names who visit everyday... OR am I counting wrong?
  9. aight.. busted.. so I don't stop by everyday...... guess the lafs on me for being the dum schumck
  10. sorry.. figured it out at work already.. hehehe.. just wanted a **** REPLY!!!! eheheheh. I said screw it to fixing it in windows and just rebooted and went into DOS and did it..
  11. OOPS forgot to say what site... well.. lets forget I said that since I forgot the url but it was a dinky little site I ran into just before here. I think Geforce5 was the one who posted this url. speakin of him, he hasn't shown up since everyone blew the lid on his "coolin case" post.. LMAO
  12. LOL.. one minute response.. see what I mean??? LMAO this one jack http://www.msfn.org/index.php?act=ST&f=35&...7e702724c78fc8b
  13. I had the fortunate luck of running into this site on ANOTHER page where there was a link to this one. I expected the usual 3 week wait period before anyone would reply to a question but was quite shocked of the immediate response from someone. (HOWEVER no ones responded to my Norton Ghost question!!!! ) Keep up the good work yall.
  14. I'm running Norton Ghost 2003 on a PII400/384/Win2000jpn at work and when I start a TCP peer-to-peer, it gives me an error "Unable to successfully defragment the virtual partician file". I had a PII266/Win98Eng as a master and my PII400/win2000Jpn as the slave. I got the PII266/win98Eng and a P4 1.5/XPjpn to work but this **** 2000 aint budging.. oh forgot to mention why I'm doing this... to test out this option as a back-up for files. any thoughts?
  15. I admit the phone had to give up style for compactness =) I've been in japan since the mobile phone craze began so i don't know how the "western" world is going in terms of style, funtions, usabilty, compactness, etc. All I know is that I put my phone in my front pocket and you can't feel its weight and doesn't have the uncomfortable buldge.
  16. Japan.. You can check out the link here http://www.nttdocomo.co.jp/english/p_s/pro...ucts/index.html Click on Mobile Phone/P504i...
  17. Oh and this too and since its a camera and can't take a pic of itself easly, just found a pic from the casio home page. The phone above is about 3.5"X2"X.75" and weighs about 2-3 ounces.... love it!!!!!
  18. Just had to show it... I LOVE MY NEW PHONE!!! hehe
  19. My score is somewhere between the 5900-6000 range but have seen SAME spec computers with 128 RAM beat me out by a 1000 points(I know even 128DDR cannot beat out 384SDR.. I think).. Are they overclocking or is my comp just slow? Specs P4 1.5(FSB 100 MHz) 384 SDR PC133 64 DDR Radeon 8500(catalyst driver6.13.10.6166) Win XP(Directx 8.1)
  20. Now here's a thought.. whatever happens to all the old junk we throw away(ie. mobo, ram, HD, etc)? They would be pollutant to the enviornment if they just dump it like every other trash.. hmm... there's a business idea... ok. nvm.......
  21. Gone are the days of me teaching English. I actually did for about a year in Japan(and yea I be teachin them reel lesons) and as is with any teaching/training job, I try to avoid it like the plague. Whats "else"? Whats my password?? AGH!!!!!
  22. The systems you described will work fine as is, whether you use SDRAM vs DDR/ DVDrom vs 56x CDrom/intel or not.. Its just a matter of preference and what you will be doing with them. Just to answer your question of WHICH ONE is better, the second one is the concensus on this posting, as is for me also. If you are going to do some hard gaming, you will need to upgrade a few things to say the least and thats when upgrading your ram from SD to DDR will help along with better video card and such. I'm sure the rest of the fine folks here can help you with the details. good hunting.
  23. I guess plenty of people were duped into buying that god-awful excuse for a computer. Its interesting NEC(PB's parent company at the time i think) had a decent reputation. On a side note, my comp right now is fallin apart (software-wise) in every which way possible. Don't no one download PCMark2002!! After I ran it, it decided to screw up all sorts of sh*t. grrrrr.
  24. I was just trying to answer his question and yes I do believe building your first computer WILL be unchartered waters some newbs would like to avoid. Everyone else had basically said to build his own or something to that affect(dont quote me on this one ) SO I was advising him its not a bad deal.. sheesh. ANd yes, my first comp was a Packard Hell as well back in... a shoot.. I forget... And a few months after that I realized never to buy another one.
