  1. You could try creating a custom transform with the OKR and creating shortcuts in the appropriate section during the setup wizard configuration.
  2. Check the CD volume label to determine the version. As for installing it more than once, you can install it over again even if it tells you it has already been activated by calling Microsoft and providing them with the activation code again.
  3. If you create a custom transform file, you can add registry keys to 'Always install elevated' that will allow you to do this. There is an older book Office 2000: Notes from the Field (not exact title but close) that explains how to do this.
  4. Winternals.com has an emergency recovery utility available as a free download. That may help you out.
  5. Check out this URL: http://www.microsoft.com/office/sharepoint.../migration.mspx There are several third party resources as well to do what you want. A quick Google search on Sharepoint migration should reveal them.
  6. Not sure if this will help but did you remove the USB drive from device manager on your Windows XP installation using 'Safely Remove Hardware' before you switched to Server 2003? There may be something still registered in the hardware configuration that is preventing it from working correctly with disk manager. I use a WD USB/Firewire drive with FAT32 partitions quite successfully between my XP and 2003 machines but I always do a safe remove before disconnecting the drive. Try it out, can't hurt.
  7. Using a custom installation of IE developed with the Internet Explorer Administration Kit will also allow you to remove the links from the installation. It is easy to use and is freely available on the MS website. Check it out!
  8. Hi, depending on what NIC you have installed the network boot disk may not work. If you are using the VMXnet NIC installed with the VMware tools, there is no NDIS dos driver for that NIC. What I do is to shutdown the VM, switch the NIC configuration to use the Vlance NIC and then boot the VM with my Network Boot Disk from www.netbootdisk.com, it has the AMD PCnet driver that the Vlance NIC emulates, already installed in the driver pack and will autodiscover the NIC in the VM. Once it is loaded I can do whatever I want which is usually to backup the VM with a Ghost image. When I am done with the Ghost image, I simply switch the NIC configuration back to VMXnet and start the VM again. Try that and see if it does not work for you.
  9. Have you seen this site? http://flyakite.msfnhosting.com/
  10. 1) Are you sure that you have the SASSER virus and not another virus? 2) Try this link: http://www.sarc.com/avcenter/tools.list.html A SASSER removal tool is available there as are others. Good luck solving your problem.
  11. You can run setup.exe from the command line and pipe the new installation key into the command line string. Check the MS support site for the exact syntax on how to do it. Good luck.
  12. Open the registry and locate TCP/IP, Parameters, then locate any adapter that has an address of 0.0.0.0 and delete the registry key. Of course before deleting any keys, backup the key by exporting it to a file. Reboot the server and see if the problem goes away. You should be using a static IP address on your DNS server and have that address configured before you install DNS. If that is not the case, uninstall DNS, reboot, assign a static IP address, and re-install DNS. Hope this helps.
  13. Here is the link from MS that will let you distinguish between Server and Server Enterprise. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003...turesorter.aspx But unless you really need the features of the server product like more than 10 inbound connections or server services like DNS and DHCP, WinXP is a much more economical choice as -I- states. Good luck with whatever you finally decide to use.
  14. It is in the wrong forum, but for what its worth if you are running MS DHCP services you could cluster the DHCP server using a virtual IP address as the IP addr. for the DHCP server. That would give you failover redundancy without having to manage two separate DHCP scopes and their options.
  15. You can try using VBscript with a Select statement from Win32_BIOS. Download Scriptomatic from Microsoft and lookup Win32_BIOS, it will tell you the attributes that can be selected. Good luck.
  16. You can try using VBscript with a Select statement from Win32_BIOS. Download Scriptomatic from Microsoft and lookup Win32_BIOS, it will tell you the attributes that can be selected. Good luck.
  17. Look into Microsoft's diskpart.exe utility. You can use it to create and size all sizes and types of partitions for your installation. It is free, there is lots of stuff on the web on how to use it.
  18. Yes you can set the 'Administrator' password to over 14 chars. with vbScript. I use it to add accounts all the time. I call my scripts from the Runonceex.cmd file. Give it a try. There are plenty of script samples on the MS Technet site on how to add accounts locally. Good luck.
  19. In Setup Manager, you can try increasing the number of times Windows will automatically login to see if you can get the extra reboot that will runonceex.cmd to execute and install your apps. Good luck.
  20. Being asked to partition the hard disk(s) happens on NT4, W2K, XP, W2K3 collectively. I do not believe that all of the parameters I first listed apply to NT 4. Is there a particular reason you are still installing an unsupported OS? Besides being unsupported, NT 4 as you may know lacks Plug-n-play support as well so device driver installation is much more tricky. If you can, install at least W2K. Good luck.
  21. Take a look at these parameters, depending on the value you choose it will determine how partitioning is set. [Data] AutoPartition=1 [unattended] FileSystem-ConvertNTFS Repartition=No ExtendOemPartition=0
  22. Google may be searching the meta data on your web page and not finding anything so it will not add it to its index. Use Google to do a search on how to make web pages searchable. I found some good tips on how to improve visibility doing this. Good luck.
  23. To install the MUI language packs while you are installing MS Office look into using the /chained command in your .mst file. That will allow you to dove tail the language pack install after you install the Office software. There is information on the MS site about this in an older book titled something like Deploying Office 2000; Notes from the field. Hope this helps.
  24. Another quick way to seemingly do what you are looking to do is to build the BartPE .iso file and then use daemon tools v. 3.47 or similar to mount the .iso file as a cd in the virtual cd-rom drive. Next using the Disk Management interface you can change the drive letter to Y:\ Hope this helps.
  25. Ok here it goes: 1) To install IE6, use the IEAK toolkit to create custom build and copy it into your Install folder. Add a line in cmdlines.txt to launch ie6setup.exe. I do this all the time and it works fine. 2) To stop the hotfix from asking for a reboot, add the following switches to to the command that installs the hotfix, -u -n -z 3) Your product key is probably incorrect, you could be using a retail product key with a volume license set of files or a volume license key with a retail set of files. Check to make sure the product key is appropriate for the type of files you have. Syntax to add to WINNT.SIF is in the deployment document in the deploy.cab on the W2K cd. 4) To change the setup screen you will need to probably hack some files. Check http://unattended.msfn.org in the the Advanced section. Also, I'm sure you know a Google search will turn up some info. as well. Good luck.
