  1. OK, this sounds more like a driver issue than what I described above. When SL first came out, HP was pretty slow at releasing updated Mac drivers for its line of printers (I think it took about a month before they finally released a driver for my own HP printer - I could use it to scan documents, but couldn't print to it until they came out with the new drivers :P). Does your customer have any outstanding software updates to apply?

  2. Sweet, a Mac issue I can troubleshoot!

I haven't had any issues printing images of that size with my MacBook Pro (also with Snow Leopard) over my wired and wireless networks (both with Windows computers), so this kind of stumps me. My guess is that it's probably an issue with either CUPS or SAMBA on the Mac. I'm no expert with configuring CUPS manually (since everything's done for you through the Printer GUI in System Preferences), so let's try playing with SAMBA first.

Most of the printer problems I've had with Macs on Windows networks usually has to do with either the computer the printer is being shared through (though, this doesn't like it applies to you since it sounds like the printer is hardwired to the network - please correct me if I'm wrong) or the workgroup the Mac is on (in my experience, Macs have never played well with workgroups). In your customer's Mac's System Preferences, check out the Network prefs, select the network interface you want to print over, then hit Advanced. Select the WINS tab from the window and make sure the workgroup is set to a common name across all of the Windows computers (and the printer, if it has an option for it).

Give that a try and post back if there's no improvement.

    Cheers,

  3. A sufficiently large codebox causes it in IE8 and FF, and I'd be willing to wager a lot of the overflow-x and overflow-y CSS is causing it. It's one of the very specific areas IE and FF are actually similar, and given the exact behavior between the two (which is rare), I'd say it's probably not easily fixable. Again, "smaller" code boxes seem to look just fine - but when they get large, they overflow.
It doesn't happen on my Mac in FF.
  4. affidavit, please be sure to review the forum rules before posting since a lot has changed in the last five years. You might also want to start off by changing your avatar to something that does violate rule 5:

    5. Images in signatures shall not exceed a total of 380x100 pixels and 100kB. Flash and animated signatures and avatars are not permitted. You can enter a maximum of four (4) lines of text in your signature for a text-only signature, or one (1) line of text above or below a signature that contains an image. Advertising and/or affiliates are not allowed in signatures nor avatars. Avatars are to be a maximum of 100x100 pixels. If your avatar or signature goes above these guidelines they will be taken off without notice. Any avatars or signatures found to be attached to a thread on MSFN being used as a host will be removed. Members with slow connection can disable other members' signatures when reading posts by going to: My Control - Options - Board Settings.
  5. xper, if you would since u are a site admin and prolly have more privialages please ban/block then unban/unblock the account "affidavit" (not this one i am using now... it is just one i created in order to be able to comunicate
I've done this for you. Try posting with your old account now.
that just may fix my issue.. there is something in the account that is broken..

for example when i try to make a new post.. it will act like its going to then im quickly redirected to the forum index.. almost as if someone was blocked or banned from posting...

i know because i have been before for accidently mentioning something that was against the rules reguarding software that i did not know was pirated.. but this was ages ago and it was reversed.. and i could post again...

If you were banned, you wouldn't be able to use the PM system, so I highly doubt that it had anything to do with privileges (I'll be very surprised if banning and then unbanning you did anything at all).
  6. Hello I am experiencing a problem with your site on my old account. "affidavit" i created this account just to see if it would work

When I try to post or reply on "affidavit" it will send me back to the forum index.

I was told by a mod it was a board issue but that clearly is not the case since i just created this new account and can post like no tomorrow...

please fix my other account I have been a member here for a long time.. even though i have not been active of late I feel it is horrible I am unable to participate in the comunity

    thanks,

    affidavit

It is a new board issue, something to do with older accounts, and you have already been told that we are looking into it. We'll contact you via PM on both of your accounts and reply back to this thread once the problem has been resolved.
  7. 2.a Use some common sense. Do not create identical topics or make identical posts in more than one forum. Think before posting and choose the right topic for your question or answer. Do not "bump" newly created topics until at least 24 hours have passed. If a topic is been "bumped" three times without any new replies, please consider reviewing and editing your original post and adding any information which you think may help other members in answering your question(s) or concern(s). When posting, have something to say, not just "My First post!" or "Cool site!!!" We sort of have the idea by now. :-)
  8. all phones in the US can call 911 even if they arent on a plan
Same in Canada. It makes you wonder why we even have 911 fees on our bills...

I have two spare phones that I keep around just in case... An old Nokia 8390 and a Motorola RAZR v3i. I sometimes use the RAZR with a prepaid SIM when I visit a place where I'll know I'll be making a lot of calls, but now that I've got 1000 Canadian long distance minutes on my iPhone 3GS' plan, there isn't much of a need for it (unless I visit the US!).

  9. C'mon guys!

What you need is a router which will then let you have up to 255 PC's, sharing an internet connection and folders or printers.

The key to getting started is to make sure the systems are in the same Workgroup. Go to the Computer name tab in System Properties (right-click My Computer, left-click properties) and, if necessary, change the workgroup name to be the same.

http://www.practicallynetworked.com has a lot of help.

g-force and jaclaz are quite correct in bringing up a crossover cable... It's by far the easiest way (and probably the cheapest way too) to get two computers talking to each other over a single cable.
