  1. You can try this... By design, Visio Viewer is not listed on the Start Menu in the Programs list; the viewer is launched by Internet Explorer. To fix this issue, you can use one of the methods below. IMPORTANT! You MUST be a local administrator of the PC to be able to apply these changes. If you are not a local administrator or the steps are not working for you, please call the BLAH BLAH!!! Method #1 Browse to the file you want to open in Visio Viewer. TIP: This will not work if the file is stored as an attachment in an e-mail message; you must save the file to your hard drive before you go through these steps. Right-click on the file and click on Open With. If you see a list of applications when you click on Open With, click to select Choose Program. This will open the Open With window. Scroll through the list of Programs and click to select Internet Explorer. Click to select the Always use the selected program to open this kind of file check box. Click on the OK button. Try opening the Visio document. Method #2 Double-click on the My Computer icon on the desktop. Click on the Tools menu and click on Folder Options. On the File Types tab, scroll through the list of Registered file types for VSD Microsoft Visio Viewer. If VSD is listed: Click to select the extension and click on the Change button. This opens the Open With window. Scroll through the list of Programs and click to select Internet Explorer. Click on the OK button to save your change. If VSD is NOT listed, you will need to create a new file association. Click on the New button. This opens the Create New Extension window. In the File Extension field, type in VSD and click on the OK button. In the list of Registered file types, click to select the new VSD extension and click on the Advanced button. This opens an Edit File Type window. In the blank field, type in Microsoft Visio Viewer and click on the New button. In the Action field, type in open and press the Tab key. Click on the Browse button next to the Application used to perform action field. Click on the drop down field and navigate to c:\Program Files\Internet Explorer. Click to select IEXPLORE.EXE and click on the Open button. On the New Action window, edit the path in the Application used to perform action field so that it set to the following: "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -nohome Click to select the Use DDE check box. Enter the appropriate settings as shown on the image below. Click on the OK button two times to save your changes and return to the Folder Options window. Click on the Close button to exit out of the Folder Options window. Try opening the Visio document.

  3. Just run this: MsiExec.exe /x{C3A6819F-62D3-4750-AF1C-28206DDF2C2E} we use that in our organization and it works
  4. Your trying to install 8.1? Wouldn't a newer version of direct x? Just wondering I use Microsoft's regcleaner that I got from my company and it works pretty good. Also I use CCleaner from CCleaner.com and delete unused registry entries from there.
  5. I like logmein rescue: https://secure.logmeinrescue.com/HelpDesk/Home.aspx I also use pc anywhere but if you cannot implement that in your environment. What about netmeeting, its easy and still the user has to accept the incoming call. Same functionality.
  6. Did these errors just start popping up or after installing anything specifically? Also did you try running sfc /scannow?
