  1. Hi. Intel do not provide official drivers for the igpu HD 2500/4000 or for the chipset B75 for Vista. I would like to install Vista. The motherboard manufacturer (Asus) provides drivers for XP & 7. Is it possible the drivers for 7 will install on Vista? I would just like to ask before going through the hassle of attempting this. Thanks.
  2. Hi jaclaz, and thanks for your help. The problem has been solved. Your suggestion to try another browser (portable) was something I had thought about a few days ago, and today I actually did try Moz Firebird (yes, 12 years old). That was only partially successful, as I could access the config pages but some of the sub menus wouldn't render, so back to square one. But it did prove that indeed it was a browser issue. So, from years ago I remembered using a Gecko based browser called K-Meleon. Alas, after trying two difference builds, the latest version works (almost) like a charm. Many thanks for both replies.
  3. I can't comment on your doubts about a settting in 7 being the culprit, but I can tell you for certain that it would appear I am the only person with this problem. I have searched far and wide on the net and there is not one single posting that mirrors my problem. The pdf link model appears to be different to what I have, and I don't know anything about telnet, so I don't know if this would help me as my only objective in the router configuration is to open ports. Thank you for your reply, though, Tripredacus.
  4. Hi everyone. I recently obtained a Zyxel router from my isp. I have a dual boot setup; with XP I have no problem accessing the config settings page - however, on Win7, my primary use drive, I am unable to access the config page. In 7, when I log in, I am brought back to the original router network map page, over and over again: In 7 I have 3 browsers; IE9. FF, & Chromium. In XP I have only IE8 installed. So, the fact that in 7, with 3 browsers unable to access the config page, does this not imply there is a related reason for this? I really don't have a clue how to even begin to resolve this but I know there are many brilliant people on this board so I'm hoping someone can help me find the 'bug' in Win7 that will allow me to actually use this router. Many thanks.
  5. A few months ago I slipstreamed my AHCI drivers into my XP iso. Worked flawlessly, so it's not nlite. On another note for those with a dual XP/7 setup, you will want to read this. B)
  6. Every time those pesky pop-up videos appear I just wack them with my mallet, and, voila! Gone. There are others that use knives to defeat them, too. Try one of those methods and report back which one was more successful.
  7. Well, so far still no luck. DCOM Server Process Launcher is running as well as the other two services but alas, the same 2 errors.
  8. Ok. I've just had a look through Event Viewer and these are the error logs I received (while running DI XML) after going through all the steps from allen2's link. Event ID 5013: Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Shadow Copy writer ContentIndexingService called routine RegOpenKeyExW (catalog list) which failed with status 0x80070002 (converted to 0x800423f4). Event ID 12302:Volume Shadow Copy Service error: An internal inconsistency was detected in trying to contact shadow copy service writers. Please check to see that the Event Service and Volume Shadow Copy Service are operating properly. When these errors were posted both MS Software Shadow Copy Provider and Volume Shadow Copy services were running and vssvc.exe was running in task manager. Thanks. edit: could these errors possibly be related to DCOM Server Process Launcher being disabled?
  9. vssadmin list writers From what I remember (it's been a few hours since I tried the steps from the link you provided) there were none listed. I also received an error as well (the same one DIXML gave). Just for a point of reference this is a fresh XP install (yesterday) so there are no potential conflicting programs (I assume) as none have been installed. First thing however, try running again DriveImageXML and check the event log Thanks jaclaz but I don't think there is a log because this was just a test for verification of VSS running and there was simply the error message in a window advising VSS could not be found/start and that errors may occur during the backup..... I've done many, many hours of googling VSS and it's certainly not just me with problems and in fact it appears many people seem to have problems trying to do what I intend to; run Intel's SSD disc management software on XP I have a brand new machine I've just built that I'm installing XP on which has AHCI for my SSD so I may infact be ok. Thanks for your great assistance. I've had two days of no sleep or food trying to do backups and build this new machine (which still isn't running)!
  10. Hi allen. That link is great but unfortunately I still am receiving the VSS error so it looks like I'll have to find a workaround for this. I appreciate your help. Thanks very much.
  11. Hi. I am encountering a strange problem with XP SP3. I am trying to run a program called DriveImage XML to verify if VSS is infact working properly. The reason for this is that I want to install Intel's SSD management software but it will only run if VSS is functioning. The error message I receive when I try to make a (test) backup copy of my C: drive is Could not initialize VSS ... make sure VSSVC.exe is running in your task manager As per the FAQ for DriveImage XML, both MS Software Shadow Copy Provider and Volume Shadow Copy services are indeed running, as well, vssvc.exe is verified running in the Processes list. Perhaps there is a program that can alternatively verify if indeed this is the case? If anyone is able to help me get this running I would very grateful (as usual). Thanks very much for reading my enquiry.
  12. I'll take a guess that since this was moved from the XP forum that indeed it is not possible to do.
  13. Hi. I'd like to remove the grey column sort by colour and enable just white. Is this possible? Thanks.
  14. I was always under the assumption a DELL OS cd/dvd would only install on a DELL motherboard.
  15. Thanks for pointing that out, cluberti. I now remember actually reading that thread, too.
  16. Hi. I'm occasionally experiencing a problem with my desired Explorer view changing. What's happening is that my desired view changes and I cannot get it back without having to use system restore. I have even tried changing the switch back and forth to my desired view but it does not work. I hope this makes sense - here are the screenshots: DESIRED VIEW: CHANGED VIEW: So, my question is, is there a registry hack that can lock my switch/view so it cannot be changed? Thanks. EDIT: For more clarification, the shortcut TARGET does not change, just the actual Explorer window display view.
  17. Do you have a Windows Explorer shortcut in the taskbar? I only have 2 shortcuts (start menu/all programs and taskbar) that have the same Target code, and the WindowsKey + E opens in the code I've set.
  18. lvllord patch worked perfectly.
  19. Thanks for the links. I was just wondering if there was a simpler way (via registry) to check the current limit. Mine if obviously at 10 (Event 4226).
  20. Thank you for your posting - although it does not answer my enquiry.
  21. Hi everyone. Could someone please advise me how I go about checking how many half-open tcp/ip connections I'm currently configured for? Thanks very much.
  22. I currently have VLC (v1.0) and the few dvd's I do have play flawlessly, menus & chapters. WMP11 serves no purpose whatsoever, except perhaps the one nice thing that it can do, which is to embed cover art to an mp3 file.
  23. Again, please refer to post #4. Thanks for replying.
