Hey all my mate has built himself a new pc, but it has problems basically i would turn on for a few seconds and then turn off all the fans and lights worked but there was no post beeb. Hi i have a compaq laptop myself i can accsess the.wim files there are 8 wims under e:\preload my questain is how do i merg the 8 wims into 1 wim, when i try and use WAIK it throws up a message ( see above post) any ideas? by the way i just copied the entier backup partion, it then let me go into the troot of e:\ to get to the wim files hmmm every time i post something the topic dont get any replyes for weeks, is it just me? hello , i have just spent the last 49 hours installing windows and all my apps. stupid me left the battery to get to 5%, and i had a power bit, i didnt even get a chance to shut down windows before it turned off. then when the power came back on, i booted tyhe laptop up but it came up with "BOOTMGR is missing. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart" so i used the dvd i have of vista to use the repair tools, and surly enough windows repaired the bootmgr problem. BUT.... i am missing the recovery option to recovery off the hard disk on a hidden partion. is there any way to add this to the bootmgr? if so how do i go about it, i have done a full system backup using acronis and transfered the image to another pc so i can try and sort this. i would like the chance to have it back because otherwisae it means i have to carry a dvd around with me incase things go wrong, and i have a habbit of miss placing cd's and dvds, please help me thanks paul

hi i have posted here as it is hardware but it is a software problem, admins feel free to move it if its in wrong place. ok so i have a new laptop, with windows vista on and just brought a finger print reader, but it doesnt work with firefox, anyone got any suggestions on how to get it working, i dont want to be forced to use ie, i cant stand it , and also crashes alot. its a way of soring all my passwords, i know its not 100% safe but as mates ( thease are peopl that dont know much about computers) use my laptop and stuff i thought it would be a good idea to use the finger print reader. i have just added like 100+ logins for various sites into it then when i came to use firefox reilized it didnt work. so can anyonehelp or create an app or addin for firefox ? cheers Paul

I have been thinking of using winpe and ximage tocreate a wim file for my current xp install. i have the WAIK kit and BDD, i am asuming i can just take the winpe.wim file from waik kit but how do i capture the current xp install and combine the 2 to boot off the dvd and uninteneedly install win xp wim file? paul

hi i am trying to build a unatted cd for my friend as the hard disk failed and lost the hp_recovery partion, the information i got on a basic install of media center 2005 was Manufacturer: HP Pavilion 061 Model: DT212A-ABU M487.UK 48502050 6176696C 696F6E20 303631 so how do i know what oembois set to use? i have tryed the 06D652A4 "HP PAVILION" set and it wtill requiers activation how do i find out what one to use as this is a differant hard drive now and i no lonfger have any accsess to the orininal hard drive to find out the crc of the original oembois.bin file

sorry i dont think i explaned correctly... my ex mate ( very long story and we arnt talking now) had this convertor that it had a rj45 connector at one end folowed by a short peiace to ethernet cable, then a little box at the end of the cable whitched hoursed a connection to a normal bt line. sorry i gfot things muddled up. anyway no need to worry, found one pro singnal bt-300

hi do u know where i could get hold of some rj11 ( phone ) to rj45 ( network) convertors, just rather then put 2 lines in the bedroom want to have the network cable act as the phone cable too

well any news when the next release will be out? although Nuhi recomends 1.3 i have found the most stable and less buggy release to be the 1.1 i mean i know Nuhi has alot on, but any hints just it is this release has been out for over a month.
