Hi. I work as a member of the Power User group on my W7 machine - user "filip". As I sometimes need to do something as an administrator I made myself a shortcut on desktop: runas /user:administrator cmd When I run it and type the password, correct Administrator's command line appears. In the tasklist it says it was run by Administrator. But any command I run from it (explorer, control appwiz.cpl, etc...) doesn't inherit the right privileges. Instead it's started as a process of filip. That worked perfectly on XP. Where is the catch in 7? I use Professional edition. Thanks in advance, Filip

Hello, I know that it is impossible to use fast user switching in xp pro machine connected to a domain. That's why remote desktop hack for more users/domain users in xp doesn't work on domain machines. But what if there was a domain user logged and I would like to use remote desktop just as local user/superuser on the same machine without logging the domain user off? Is there any hack to allow this? One domain user physically and more local users over remote desktop simultaneously on one machine? Again, the system is XP Pro. I suppose it's not possible, but still.. Thanks a lot!

Hi. I'm not sure by this solution, but that's how I would try it: Be sure the SATA disk is connected to slot number 0. The PATA disk souhld be set as SLAVE and try to connect it to the secondary ide channel.

Hi. I don't know about any method. But what I do know is, that the start menu dynamically changes it's width by its content. So if you for example remove the option "set program access and defaults", it will narrow down. It behaves that way when the simple start menu is enabled. If you have the two-column menu, i'm not sure.

Hi, in my opinion XP is still more usabe. Unless you have a real HW monster, install XP. With 2GB ram you can turn off the pagefile and the speed of the system is awesome. But 2GB for vista is minimum/average. All software works with xp perfectly and there will be SP3 for XP released on spring and they say it will really increase the XP speed even more. It's fast, stable, reliable and relatively bug fixed system. You can't say that about Vista yet. Vista has of course some new features etc., but it really decreases the potential hw capability which you have paid for. That's MY opinion:)

I'm back. Problem is solved. I performed a deep googling and here is the solution for those, who have the same problem. You have to created these registry enteries, which are dword type. Insert the values in the brackets: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\IGMPLevel (2) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\IGMPVersion (4) You have to restart the computer to make it run. Enjoy!

Hi, I got a problem. I want to recieve a network stream through an rtp protocol with VLC player. But no video is showing up. I've tried the same thing with a compuer running windows XP sp2 pro, and it works without a single problem. Firewall is off, Win firewall as well. I 've tried to solve it by selecting Win gdi, DirectX or OpenGL as a display device, but nothing. It seems like the IGMP protocol is disabled somewhere in Win Vista. But I don't know. Does anyone have an idea? Thanks, Filip

I was using the Administrators group account for years, but then i decided to use a Power Users account. Since there's no Power users in the poll, i chosed the User option, because i suppose it's about using an admin account.

Would you paste here some screenshot if it's possible?

Hi, I'm not sure what option do you exactly mean, but if you mean the button on the panel with standard buttons (as back, search), you can remove it by editing the panel buttons. Right click on the panel and select the last option (I don't know how it's called in English).

Well, talking about Owner, there's no Owner account. Not at the welcome screen, not in the text logon. In our language the account used to called 'Vlastník'.. I tried to type both. Nothing. The Owner doesn't show up even when I display accounts using net users And i shoud tell, that the problem is back, even if I made an another admin account. When I want to move the myfriend account into Powerusers using control userpasswords2, it shows an error about a missing group. It's the same with net localgroup "Power users" myfriend /add It says there's no such group..

Thanks. but I had to solve the problem immediately, so i reinstalled the system. Then i followed the Ponch's advice and made Administrators/MyAdmin account and then put the MyFriendAccount into Users group.. Users/MyFriendAccount.. And It works perfectly.. But thanks a lot anyway.. I'll save this commandline sequence for later. I'm sure it'll be useful someday:) So this topic may be locked.

I've already got rid of it and it only caused the reset of users setings. And back to the admin account, you mean there must be an special admin account with Administrator account? eg: Administrators/Administrator Administrators/MyAdmin Users/MyFriend ??? If it's so, it sucks:) And don't worry about the solution. I used my friend, the XP CD, and there was everything fine in 30 minutes..

Hi, I was searching, but I couldn't find any solution for this problem: I've just installed XP Home SP2 on new comp of my friend's. His account was first a member of Administrators, to make easier instalation of drivers etc. When that was done, I wanted to put him into group Users, because he's real newbie. I've done this using the command "control userpasswords2". But soon I clicked Apply, an error occured. It was something about rights (strange, the account was a member of admins). I restarted the computer and the account loaded OK with restricted rights. Everything seemed ok. Then I wanted to cancel automatic logon of this user. So I launched the "control userpasswords2" again. But what a surprise, whed there was only two accounts. Administrator and .NET.. No MyFriend account. When I accesed user administration via control panel, I was logged as MyFriend, but as a Guest type user, not User. When I log out back to welcome blue screen, there is NO account. That MyFriend account is somehow invisible, but when I start the computer this user is automaticly logged on. I'm a bit confused. When I log as the Administrator in emergency mode (I'm not sure how exactly is this called in English) it's the same. No MyFriend account in the "control userpasswords2" window. Now it means, I'm not longer able to maitain this account. I don't understand it. I can't even delete it and make it again. Why is MyFriend account in the Guest class? By the way, Guest is disabled.
