  1. Yes, Like I said, if I move the computer account back to the default OU then it works fine. But it won't work if the account has been moved to another OU.
  2. Hi I am building all computers to the OU container "Workstations" as specified in the RIS server properties. I also have a sub-OU under that called "Laptops". After the build I move all laptop computer accounts into the "Laptops" OU. My problem is then when I try to rebuild a laptop, the CIW complains about duplicate machines and permisions to delete the computer account. I find that the only way I can rebuild the laptop is if I delete the computer account first or move it back into the "Workstations" OU before rebuilding. I have searched everywhere but cannot find info on this. Surely lots of people must have this problem? Also, is there not a way to tell RIS through the CIW or sif file to create laptop computer accounts in one OU and desktops in another? Any ideas? Thanks!
  3. If I have already integrated 933566 into my source files, can I just integrate the new 937143 on top of that ?
  4. Hi I've got a working RIS server on a test network. DHCP is not installed on the RIS server and clients get their IP addresses from a scope on the test 2003 pdc. I now need to move this server to our prod network, but the problem is that DHCP on prod network is still on a NT4 box. Will RIS still work? If not and I decide to install DHCP on my RIS server as well, how can I force all workstations in the company to get IP from the old DHCP server and only RIS clients to get addresses from the DHCP scope on the RIS server? I tried to test this on our test network by installing DHCP and creating a scope on the RIS server as well, but RIS clients still get their IP's from the scope on the pdc, not the RIS server. Thanks for the help.
  5. Has anyone had problems with the Dell D630 modem drivers not installing with RIS? After my RIS install the modem (PCI device) still shows up in device manager without a driver. Pointing device manager to the folder with the drivers won't work, but running setup.exe does. Funny thing is that the Audio device only shows up after installing the modem with setup.exe. It almost seems like the modem and audio are on the same PCI bus. Any ideas?
  6. Hi We are deploying XP in our company and I'm investigating different ways of doing it. It's all very confusing and it would be great if one of you experts could give me an idea of which is the best way to do it. We have: Windows Server 2003 with Active Directory 800 users 10 different desktop / laptop models A few standard applications and also a few non-standard depending on department and if it's a laptop. I've been looking at doing it with RIS, but am very confused if to use rissetup or riprep. Now I'm also looking at WinPE, BDD, ImageX, etc, etc. All I'd like to do is have as few images as possible, one for each HAL off course, automated installation of drivers depending on hardware model. Some of the standard apps could be part of the images and some could be installed afterwards with AD group policies. Any suggestions on which one of the 1000 different ways would be best for us. All I need is just some recommendations and then I can do all the research / testing. Thanks N
