  1. I did not put these advertisement popups on my posts so where did they come from? The site itself? I don't appreciate that because I hate these annoying popouts more than anything and I don't want to be a part of them. I did not write my post to include them.
  2. My wife had just switched her duplicate laptop in the dock and I was on the one with one username instead of two. She has a back up laptop that is the same model. So I had a little issue with getting the two screens to do what I wanted but the username thing is no longer a part of this post. Different computer. Anyhow I extended the screen to the extra monitor and was able to manipulate it. It was stuck on 640x480 and would no go any higher.
  3. With a Latitude D630 and a docking station I have an extra monitor. The Latitude has it's own resolution which I can change but the extra monitor stays at 640X800 or whatever Safe Mode gives you. I can pull the slider to higher resolutions but when I apply it then it snaps back to 640x480. I had another monitor on it last week and this monitor did whatever I wanted it to do. The video card is the Nvidia Quadro on the laptop. Why won't the resolution stay even up to 1024x768?
  4. Solved
  5. Just talked to Malwarebytes forum moderator from an email not from the forum and this is what he told me about using Malwarebytes. Here is the Q+A: Tom M., Mar-05 12:17 (PST): Q: What is the proper way to scan a computer with multiple usernames on it with MWB? A: Hello and welcome to the Malwarebytes consumer helpdesk. Thank you for choosing Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware as your malware security solution, my name is Tom M. and I'll be assisting you today. Malwarebytes will scan all user profiles. Always scan in normal mode using the default quick scan option. Malwarebytes does not recommend full scans to search for malware. Our scan engine is configured to find all the places malware loads in memory and hides from conventional scanners in the default quick scan option. Q: So what are the full scans for anyway or when will you this full scan? A: Full scans are for new external devices or to look for minor non threat remnants which will not be of any consequence to the system.
  6. Try this again. Ok, now, Within Windows Explorer------------if I right click on their user profile folder and choose to scan this way ------------will that scan completely that profile? Again: With Malwarebytes installed you will have an icon if you right click on any folder on your computer and you choose to "Scan With Malwarebytes" Again, so if I do a complete MWB scan will it be best to do this scanning of the other profiles folder. Or should it be better to actually log into this profile and do the scan this way. Or am I repeating a scan of the rest of the computer twice this way. What I don't want to do is to do a complete scan then log out and log into another profile and scan again then go into another profile and scan again. This is with three profiles of course. I am thinking that a complete scan will do the entire computer but neglecting a particular user profile that I am not logged into. Windows is not loaded or copied three times just because it has three people using the computer with their own profiles.
  7. Just don't want any malware to spread itself around all accounts. Now what if you went into Windows Explorer and right clicked on each account and scanned that folder as well as the main folder. Programs like Malwarebytes have an icon if you right click on a folder and you can set a scan going just for that folder. I did that and it did scan each individual username folder. Sometimes I take out the drive and slave it to another computer via usb cord and do scans. Now the other day I did a SAS scan externally this way and found around 20 bugs. I then put the hard drive back into the laptop that it came from and did an SAS scan again within the computer itself. SAS then found around 60 more bugs. So what does this tell us about external scans?
  8. I have three names or username logins on my Windows Vista computer. Do I have to go to each username, update and scan those profiles from within their profile with their own desktop? Or can I go into Windows Explore and scan their user profile folder? Or can I just go into my own user profile and that will scan the whole entire computer with all the usernames?
  9. I have a Dell tower 2.4 Ghz with one video card and two PCI card slots. I installed another video card so I can use them like Presentation mode. Or maybe it's not called that but I want the same thing on one screen as the main screen. All I was able to do is get the extend my monitor onto the next screen. So I want both icons and taskbar on both screens like you can do with a laptop. This is for Real Estate so the customer can follow me on their own screen facing away from me. So I don't want what I have now which is an extension of my screen. I have played around with it for an hour and have given up. Any ideas? Using XP Home Edition.
  10. Winsockfix did the job thanks though.
  11. Can only go to Https sites - only -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Did a spyware scan of a computer that has plenty of horsepower. Pentium 4 2.8 with 2 gigs of ram, Windows XP. Got rid of some spyware and now I can only go to sites that start with https. Anything else is the "Page cannot be displayed" page. Have reset IE8, removed and reinstalled ethernet and wireless card. Did a ipconfig repair, flushdns, registerdns, restarted. Still only https sites will come on and Google's Beta page which is another https. Its https://www.google.com/ Can't go to google classic though. Been googleing this on the Internet to find a fix. Computer otherwise runs fast except for this browser problem. Using Avast antivirus, malwarebytes, superantispyware and have the firewall on. Any ideas? Winsockfix maybe???? Another reset of IE8?
  12. Tried a new window and not worked but what did work was this: Updated Java to version 5 and it worked. Thanks. We had version 1 something. They use Java over at Charter. The Supervisor at Charter could not fix this those dummys!
  13. Got Charter.net webmail and when I hit the button Forward or Reply the browser then crashes and I get a msg to debug or quit program. On my Windows XP computer it works fine but this is a Windows 7 computer that it will not forward or reply on. I just did all the MS updates and still not working. Ran CCleaner, restarted tried to open the email in a new window and still it is not working. Any ideas? This is on a brand new Lenovo laptop with three gigs of ram. Gmail and Yahoo mail works flawlessly with this computer, btw. I think it is an Internet Explorer issue or Windows 7 issue.
  14. I keep hearing about Windows Installer. Do I need this program for just basic computing and Internet surfing? I keep thinking that it will make things smoother when installing and uninstalling items from my computer. But am I wasting my time downloading this program. Note: Please don't send me to Wikipedia for a description of Windows Installer, it makes no sense to me. Microsoft's website as well. I need layman terms and discussions.
  15. I used Mp3Tag to fix all the artists and songs list so they will show up on my player the right way but still when I hit "Play All Tracks" it says playing 1 of 1470 when I have 2325 mp3s on the player. The player says that I have 2325 until you do the Play All Tracks. I wonder if it will play all of them or only 1470? Can't stare at it and watch it either.
  16. I can see it on my computer, WinAmp and WMP but the thing is that if some of the tags have no artist and no song tag, then I would like to make a tag for it somehow and have it show up. I have about 100 songs with screwed up tags.
  17. Yes I did try changing the mode and it still did not work. I just like to edit those tags somehow on the DJ itself.
  18. Dell Mp3 player needs editing software -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have a Dell DJ or Digital Jukebox player Generation 2. I also have a Gen 1 which works with a program called Dell DJ Explorer. This Explorer will show songs that I can edit, make genres, delete genres, rename songs, find duplicates, etc. It is a download from Delll. I am using XP with these DJs. Ok I now received three Generation 2 DJs. The DJ Explorer does not recognize that the players are hooked up so it does not open up the interface explorer to do all the editing. I haved also tried the Red Hat software and it does the same---does not recognize the DJ is plugged in. I tried Musicmatch JB and the stupid program takes 2 minutes before you can do anything with it. It does not help with editing, renaming, etc. I uninstalled it. Is there something I can use with this DJ Gen 2 that I do some Genre, renaming stuff? When I plug it into any Win XP, Vista or Win 7 the DJs show up with all the songs and renaming the songs work but when you look at the DJ's screen, the songs tags are still there and songs will look like this: !Led Zeppelin or /(Led Zeppelin or ((Led Zeppelin or ..Led Zeppelin or (Led Zeppelin or 06Led Zeppelin. They will sometimes start up with the song and then the artist or vice versa or unknown. So they are all mixed up even though on the computer they show up just fine. Any ideas?
  19. The other day my favicons for my favorites turned into the unknown application icon. You know the one. The one that looks like a white sheet of paper with Window in that and 6 tiny icons in that window. The icon that does not know the application that created the file. I don't know why my favicons did this. I still have some folders that I created there and in those folders that same icon is in these created folders. So there not even an Internet Explorer E, they're all the same unknown application icon. So I have tried to resave the favicon or website favorite but they still show up the same unknown application icon. Let's call it a UAI. So what's up with that?
  20. This is wrong. I did the install. I was in XP Partition 1 and stuck in my Vista DVD disk and it said Install and I tried that and eventually said that the Upgrade was not available for XP to Vista but when I clicked on I think Next it then ask me where I wanted the install and I chose Partition 2 and it proceeded to install correctly after I put in my COA that I got from my tower. The same tower that I got with the DVD disk. After it was all done then I had a dual boot of XP and Vista. It just wanted Vista to be the first boot and I told Vista that I wanted XP the first boot OS and it switched that and now I have restarted many times and it works. So why did it work? So the upgrade turned into a fresh install. I did not have to put in any disk to show that I had Windows on the drive. I did not upgrade a Vista for a higher Vista. Please explain how this happened and why others said that it is for upgrading Vista to Vista (higher)
  21. I have an Acer with Vista on it. I want to put a dual-boot with XP and Vista. I just reformatted my partitioned drive with XP Pro and now want to put Vista on the partition. The computer came brand new with a DVD called Windows Anytime Upgrade. Is this my operating system for the computer or is it just an upgrade to my orginal Vista installed on this pc? I have the Vista code sticker on the pc as well.
  22. I am just trying to clean up somebody's computer. I don't care too much about these folders to save my life.
  23. Have you used that Index.dat Analyzer much? I know that I ran CCleaner on over 100 different computers and some of them, fixed them so they run faster and even boot and fix Internet problems.
  24. But what about the funny named folders? Can U actually delete these folders themselves.
  25. What exact folder or folders are you talking about.
