The problem you are facing is that a shortcut has to specify a file; so below is a solution. You can create a batch file with the restart/ shutdown commands in them. Then create a shortcut file (by the procedure that you've mentioned) but the location of that shortcut will be the batch file. Now on the shortcut you can change the icon to watever you choose (this can't be done on a batch file). You do this by right clicking on the shortcut --> properties --> shortcut (tab) --> change icon (button) --> select icon. If you dont know how to create a batch file: you create a text file (rename it shutdown or restart), type in the code for restart/ shutdown (e.g. shutdown -r -t 0); then save; afterwards you have to change the extension of the file from .txt to .cmd or .bat.

I do not believe I have tried your framework files. Ill give them a go next time a use nLite. That fixes my wagon.

I would like a copy of the portable nLite; if it means not having to install .net framework. The only reason why I install .Net is so nLite can run. Installing .net adds an extra service that i dont want also, so thats another reason why ill like to not have to install .net.

um you should consider what uses directX. Games is not the only program that uses directx. Directx is a bunch of API's/ runtimes if you didn't know what. Playing videos uses directx and some internet aps. running nLite on an unattended source will remove all its unattended settings (to my knowledge). There may be a way around this? (doing it manually;))

This is with WMP10. If you want with WMP11 find WMP11 addon for nLite, especially if is there some with updates. If not, add WMP11 to Windows XP CD, install it, download remaining updates for WMP11 and integrate them into Windows XP CD... or use Boooggy's Windows Media Player 11 Slipstreamer @: http://web.clicknet.ro/boooggy/ I reckon its easier to slipstream wmp 11, go to the hotfix list found on the website, download the hotfixes and slipstream then using nLite. (im only saying this because i had difficulties using the prog last time)

1. Make a text file. (by right clicking in a blank area, selecting 'New', than click on 'text document'. 2. right click on the text file, click properties. When the new window appears. type in 'c' for change -- next to the 'Open's with' bar 3. Select 'notepad2' if its under the 'recommend programs' tab. If its not there, click the browse command button and find the .exe file for notepad2. 3a) Click the button for 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file'. 3b) Click ok. Now your done. You can do this for all types of files. There are some addons that can replace the normal notepad with notepad2. kel's uber pack is an example of this. But use this one if you want to replace notepad with notepad2 directly (next time u reformat). No problem. The thing is I was trying hard to make up to date Windows XP CD, so when I finally did make it I decided to share it with others. All this stuf is still new for me so I'm learning as I'm trying... your doing pretty well so far. Ive been doing this for awhile so i have a bit of resources up my sleeve. Have you checked out the driverpacks from http://driverpacks.net/. Im thinking of; after getting the latest drivers installed, use Driver Genius to make a backup of the drivers (after deleting all the .nfo and .txt files) and than ill integrate all the drivers with nLite. Thus i wont be needing the driverpacks, just my backup drivers. And also i can delete all the other windows drivers without fuss.

I can't download DirectX 9.0c August 2007 RyanVM addon. Im getting: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /nico/DirectX_9.0c_August_2007_AddOn_0.3.1_-_CNC.7z on this server. haha it must be my problem anyway. When did he release that, ive been looking for it. I cant find the link in RyanVM torrents. Is there a mirror for it?

when i removed internet explorer once with an older version of nLite (I havent done it recently) it mustve removed ie core support as well (even thou i didnt specify it) because I couldnt open a htm file in counterstrike. What I mean by that is that ie core was either broken or has been removed. Not removing internet explorer may be your only solution (that i know off) - i cant help u any more.

Did you remove internet explorer? Post your last session.ini so people can review it?

how bout u be more specific on what is causing ur problem like ur saying u just added the drivers (which are ....mbs big) which caused a normal windows source (650mb) to be larger than a cd size ??? and specify what nLite version you are using/ Anyway... nLite can create bootable DVD's and they can burn them also (you just need a blank DVD in the drive). I guess your problem is is using nero to burn the iso. Just use nLite to burn the files cause using any other app may make the iso to not be bootable plus nlite burning section is really easy to use. Try to do the thing again and when u get to the bootable iso section - select the "Direct Burn" on the text box and have a blank DVD ready.

Basically follow these steps: (pre-requist is to install winrar and to install all addons etc that you want in mozilla firefox) 1. Navigate to your Application Data folder by typing in "%appdata% in your explorer window. 2. Create a winrar file. 3. Compress the whole "Mozilla" folder which is there. 4. After it compresses it, click the "SFX" button on top right of the winrar window (whilst looking at the archive). 4a. The new window which pops up; click "Advanced SFX options..." 4b. Type in "%appdata%" in the textbox under the heading "Path to Extract". 4c. Click on the "Modes" tab. Select the button "Hide All" under the "Silent Mode" box and select the button "Overwrite All Files" under the "Overwrite Mode" box 5. Now click 'OK'. It will generate the switchless exe file. 6. Close and the winrar archive and cut/ copy the exe to the folder your want to store the self-extracting file. This can be done Mozilla Thunderbird and Sunbird as well. Credit goes to: Shark007.
