  1. Just send him a PM. It's likely that he/she won't check this thread.
  2. EDIT: Updated desktop in a later post.
  3. If I understand your question correctly, what you want is not to remove the recent programs list, but the most frequent used programs list. I know because I use it too. The way to solve it is by either using the method BLeU described (aka the automatic way) or by going to "Right-click on taskbar ---> properties ---> start menu ---> customize ---> general -> press "clear list" and shrink down the "number of programs on start menu" to zero. That should take care of it. That does not "take care of it", that simply leaves the menu blank with no programs listed in it. As far as your topic goes, it's easy to get confused because you use the wrong terms. "Recent Programs" is not what you want to remove. In fact, there isn't anything called "recent programs", but there is something called "Recent Docs" which is I don't how it was easy to get confused when I even posted a picture. Whatever, doesn't matter now. And i know what the recent document folder is, we've already discussed that and I included the exact same picture in my early post (#15). and I assume that's not what you're talking about. It's called MFU (or Most Frequent Used) programs. Yes, that's it. I would assume that Bleu's registry fix would work as well since that's the same thing I found on the Microsoft Support site, but alas, it does not. Cheers, Marthax
  4. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 ; Remove Frequent Programs List from the Start Menu [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] "NoStartMenuMFUprogramsList"=dword:00000001 ok..I guess that's what you're really looking for..hopefully.. Nope...thanks though....that one doesn't do it either. I actually noticed no difference with at all. I had to double-check that I'd done it correctly.
  5. Is it "quite simple" or not?
  6. Did you even look at what the registry file contains? I tested it myself before I posted it for you and it does work. It both stops entries from being added and hides "Documents" from the Start Menu altogether. Are you really this obtuse? Why would I care about either one of these? How do they relate to my question? They don't. This stops the 'Recent Documents' folder from appearing in the Start Menu items. This is related to the same folder, only now it still appears, but your recent documents will no longer appear inside of it. As I've said multiple times, I'm asking about the 'Recent Programs' listing, not the 'Recent Documents' listing. Also, two members have stated already that they don't believe it can be done. I'm now thinking the same. I believe the only way to do it is in the coding of the visual style itself.
  7. I did try Google first, but to no avail. I've also already tried that registry addition and it does not remove the Recent Programs menu, it simply stops adding programs to it. For future reference, please try reading the question first.
  8. Sure you could have. If you would have been more clear you would have had your answer by now. The subject line of your post was vague and didn't adhere to the posting guidelines of this forum. Since you asked about recent Programs, the answer you got from nitroshift was correct. I'm still not 100% sure what you want to do... maybe recent Documents? That's easily removed like most other things on the Start Menu. 1. nitroshift's post was waaay off base. I stated nothing about not wanting my new programs highlighted. 2. I even posted a picture of what I want. How can you not know what I'm talking about when I say, I want to disable the entire thing so that it looks like so: [insert my picture that shows exactly what I'm try to do]. 3. My topic title wasn't vague. I'm asking a question about my Start Menu, hence the title. No. No. Yes. Just like the picture shows. For a perfect, and complete description that describes everything, go here.
  9. Has nothing to do with my question. No. I can't make it any clearer than my original post. What's not to understand?
  10. Is there a way to have your Start Menu not show recent programs? I don't just mean the list, but I want to disable the entire thing so that it looks like so: (The above is only a Photoshop'd image of what I want)

  12. Well, I created another log-on account and it works fine there. I still don't have the slightest clue why it just disappeared like that. Oh well. Three feckin hours of visual adjustments, I have my PC back to normal.
  13. Nope, my monitors aren't switched; that would have been quite obvious. Everything works correctly except for the taskbar not appearing. I'm having to use the Windows button to access the Start Menu.
  14. Using ObjectDock (auto-hide) Custom Icons.
  15. After doing a re-boot, it won't appear. I have my taskbars set on auto-hide, but it still doesn't show up after putting my mouse at the bottom of the screen. The taskbar on my secondary monitor works just fine though. It's only my primary that I'm having problems with. Also, it's not that my mouse isn't activating it, it just isn't there. When I take the taskbar off auto-hide, it still isn't showing. I've tried: System Restore, but that didn't fix it. I read that Ctrl+Esc will toggle it, but that didn't work. It's not on another border of the monitor, I've checked them all. I opened the Task Manager, clicked 'New Task', and typed "explorer", but that didn't work. I've tried re-booting again. Scanned with Adaware-SE Full system scan with Norton AV Tried changing theme. I tried re-booting in Safe Mode. The taskbar does appear that way. Any suggestions?
