I have been unable to stream my music to my PS3 since installing Windows 7 7100 x64. With Vista I am able to stream the media and the PS3 sees my machine as a media server. I have gone to the media player and told it to share my music and went into the advance settings. My machine is not part of a homegroup. I can't see the PS3 listed in the network devices to share to. Any ideas how I can fix this?

Is there a way to disable the compatibility check when installing Windows 7?

Does anyone have mobile connectivity working with Windows 7? I am using build 7068 x64 and the mobile device center crashes everytime I try to launch it. Windows 7 sees my windows mobile device and it shows up in my computer. That part is fine with me. However, I have no way to sync it with my outlook. I opened the sync center but I could not setup a partnership with it. Any ideas how to sync my outlook in Windows 7 with my windows mobile 6.1 phone? UPDATE: I was able to get it working by running the WMDC install in compatiblity mode.

I am not sure what is going on then. Indexing is turned off on both machines. Why would they need to logon every 15 seconds? Is there anything I can do other than removing the homegroup?

7048 on both.

I joined a homegroup that contains my computer and one other. Since doing this I have noticed in the event logs that the security log is being written to about every 10-15 seconds. One is a login and the other is a logoff over and over. Any idea why this is happening so frequently? The other machine in the homegroup is just setting idle.

I am using x64 version of 7057 and when I click the button to turn on media streaming, it doesn't do anything. I was hoping to share my music with another system running windows 7. It is running the x86 version and it works fine. Anyone else having this issue and have a fix for it?

Does anyone else with windows 7 have a problem bringing up a remote desktop connection to a pc running xp? I go to the connection and it appears to be connecting to it and then the remote connection just disappears from the screen.

You were right I put in a different drive and it worked great. It is was just one of those things that happened at the oddest time. The dvd drive that was in there was working with the other windows. Something happened to it in the last day and caused it to stop working correctly and that coincided with the beta install. It was a hardware issue.

I just finished helping my friend get beta 7000 installed on his system. He has a C2D 6600 on a gigabyte p43 mobo with an nec dvd-rw installed. The bios sees the burner and windows even sees it and says it is operating normally. The problem is that no matter what disc he puts in windows can't read it. He can put in any data or movie disc and then double click the dvd rw icon in my computer and it says please insert disc. Any ideas how to fix this issue.

Thanks. I will give it a try.

There are 2 boot entries on my friend's computer. One says previous windows. I think at one time he had an xp and vista dual boot and it seems to have written some boot code to a different drive because I formatted the one he used for windows 7. How do I use bcdedit to remove the legacy os entry so that his system will start without the boot menu coming up for 25 seconds?

I tried that and it is still sluggish. I guess the only thing left to try at this point is the do a rebuild of Windows 7 and see if that fixes the issue.

It seems to be all of the sites. I can go the same sites with Opera or Chrome and they come right up. If I download the RC1 for vista from Microsoft will it install and upgrade the version that is in this beta?

I am running the x64 version of Windows 7 beta 7000. I have noticed that the 32bit Internet Explorer is very slow to bring up web pages. Any ideas how to speed things up? I haven't tried the 64bit version of IE because flash doesn't work with it.

There were 2 of them set to run every 5 minutes. I have disabled them and rebooted. I will see if that fixes it. Is it okay to delete those tasks?

I am trying to help my friend troubleshoot his system. He has Vista Ultimate x32 with SP1 installed. After his pc is boot up for a few minutes the task manager shows over 700 instances of the taskeng.exe process running. It is using 55% of his total ram. I looked on the task scheduler and with everything he has in there there only 26 tasks listed and several of those a default windows tasks. Any idea why this is happening? He also has an apple iTouch installed with iTunes and it associated services as well as windows mobile device center. I have wmdc on mine as well but that doesnt' happen to me. Is the apple services causing this?

I had Chrome working fine in Vista Ultimate x64. I installed it in Windows 7 x64 and it won't display any of the web pages. Anyone else have it working ? I tried the work around of adding -no-sandbox but that created a different problem. Now when I try to go to any website, the tab just stays blank.

Use this method instead. It is very similar but uses fat32 for the fs. I did this method and it works with no problems. It is much, much, much faster than installing from the dvd.

Thanks for the info. You are correct.

Anyone else having a problem getting windows sidebar to work in this beta? If I don't try to launch the sidebar I can used the desktop gadget by right clicking and put gadgets on the desktop. After I try to launch the sidebar, the desktop gadget option no longer works.

Yes it is vlited. I slipstreamed sp1 and added raid drivers. I hope the official sp2 is okay with vlite'd installs.

Unfortunately I did. It is one of things I am going to have to try to troubleshoot without knowing quite where to start.

Any ideas how to stop the servicing stack from failing to update or how to update it manually?

I have tried installing the SP2 beta several time on my Vista Ultimate x64 system. After some time the installer says: Installation was not suddessful! A system error prevented the service pack from installing. Please download and run the Check System Update Readiness tool. I have downloaded and run that tool and then reboot. The tool says the updates were successful. So then I try the SP2 beta and it fails. The event log is full of errors and warnings. The warning are 4371 Windows Servicing identified that package KB948465(Service Pack) is not applicable for this system The errors are 4375 Windows Servicing failed to complete the process of setting package KB948465 (Service Pack) into Install Requested(Install Requested) state 4385 Windows Servicing failed to complete the process of changing update 948465-17_en-us_GDR from package KB948465(Service Pack) into Staging(Staging) state Any ideas what is going wrong here? I have SP1 currently installed.
