  1. I was hoping someone could help me find out what is causing this error. At this particular moment I believe it is a problem with the video driver. I am using Vista 64 bit with 8GB of RAM. The ram and cpu both test great. Video card test out fine. I have had no issues with this motherboard either. This error only appears when one of my games crash. This is usually accompanied by the atikmdag error.
  2. There is no firewall running on either machine. UPDATE: Chalk this one up to user error. I had forgotten to check the box that says find media that others are sharing.
  3. I have turned on media sharing on a Vista Ultimate 32-bit machine and on a 64-bit machine. Both machines detected the other's shared media and I added it and allowed it from the other machine. I did this with both machines and told it to share all ratings. When I open media player on either machine , I only see the music that is local to that machine. Any idea how to get the media player sharing to actually work? My PS3 does read the shared media from either computer though. I just can't get one vista machine to read the music from the other vista machine.
  4. In have installed the Sandra Pro 2008 SP2 version on my Vista Ultimate x64 system. When I try to launch the program I get an error saying SiSoftware Sandra Agent Service(NT)(Unicode) has stopped working. If I remove this version and download the lite version and install it, it does launch. Any ideas what is going on?
  5. I am running Vista Ultimate x64 with SP1 and all updates installed. SP1 and all updates were installed before NIS and Spy Bot. UPDATE: Well I have no solutions. I am going to rebuild my Vista and then I will check it after each individual upate. That is the only way I know to figure out what is happening.
  6. I have tested the memory and the cpu. Memetest went 24 hours with no errors. It happens with IE and with Opera.
  7. The machine locks up and I have t reset it . I won't even respond to ctl+alt+del.
  8. I just rebuilt my system and before the windows updates, no problems. After the windows updates the lockups are back. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Getting really frustrated at this point.
  9. I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue or knows what is causing it and how to fix it. I am using Vista Ultimate 64-bit with SP1 and all updates current. When I go to certain web pages in internet explorer or opera, my computer freezes up and I have to reset the machine. One of the web pages is on zdnet. When I go to zdnet and click the news/blogs link and then click any link on that page and my system freezes. At first I thought it might be related to NIS or Spybot but I have tried this with a fresh build that only had vista and the browsers installed and it still happened.
  10. This has happened to me a few time. This is how I was able to correct it. Login as Administrator. Run a command prompt with admin privs. cd to the users directory. Type in attrib -h -s yourusernsame
  11. I have vista 64 bit installed with all windows updates done. I keep getting the event id 2021 and 2017 popping up in my event viewer. Any ideas what is causing this and how to stop it?
  12. This is a strange problem that I haven't seen yet in Vista. I have a machine with Vista Ultimate installed. I have created several shared folders and have shared the printer. The network is configured as a Home network. All of the computers are in the same workgroup. I have network discovery, file sharing, and printer sharing turned on. Public folders and password protected sharing are turned off. I have tried access this machine from another vista pc and an xp pc. Both of them give me that error message that says MACHINE is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Access Denied. If I use the run command and type in the \\machinename\sharename I can access the shared folders from both the xp machine and the other vista machine. Permissions on these shared folders at both the file level and the share level is everyone full control. Any ideas why the machine can't be accessed in the network neighborhood but using the run command can bring up the shared folders? I have no firewall running on the shared system. I have seen this issue in Xp before and I was able to resolve it by increasing the irpstacksize in the lanman server\parameters setting in the registry but it didnt' work on the vista machine.
  13. My windows media player has been working great. In the last couple of days it has started doing something that it has never done in the past. When I exit out of media player while it is playing song or movie file, the playback continues until I manually kill the wmplayer.exe process.
  14. I tried to use the windows dreamscene and no matter what video or format that I select there is a band of jumbled pixels across the top of the video. Below this jumble the video looks great. It does whether I am playing it in full screene or windowed mode. I have an 8800GTS 640MB video card with a C2D6850 and 2GB ram.
  15. About the spyweeper issue, I have spysweeper configured so that it notifies me any time a program tries to write itself to the start menu or the run key in the registry. Every time I open media player I get an alert that the same program is writing itself to the startup. As far as the lsass, I am not on a domain. Nothing was running in the background.
  16. I will start off with an easy one. When I set the view for a folder to be List and then apply to all folders, it will show this as the default view for a little while. Then all of a sudden some folders have Detail view and others have Tile or Icons. Is there any fix for this? Secondly I have Spysweeper running and everytime I start media player it tells me that it wants to add WMPNSCFG to the startup and I allow it. Why does it keep adding it to the startup when it is already there? Last but not least there is a process called lsass.exe that runs several times a day for several hours causing contant hard drive access. Any idea how to stop this?
  17. I am using a MS Wireless Notebook Optical 4000 mouse. I have installed the 6.1 intellipoint for vista. I used the intellipoint to program the buttons. Everything works fine except the Enable program specific option. I have it set so the in IE the wheel button will go back and the magnifier button will go forward. After a little while these buttons stop working in IE and the only way to get them to work again is to reboot the machine. Any ideas/ solutions for this?
  18. I have an apc smart ups 1000xl installed. I installed the apc software but I got some errors so I removed it. After rebooting, the power icon is no longer visible int he system tray. I checked the properties and the check box beside show the power icon is grayed out. Any ideas what I can do to get it back?
  19. Is there any way to keep the view from changing when looking at folders? I changed the view to List. It keeps changing back to large icon. I have told it to apply to all folders using the folder and search options. In XP it remembered the view setting for the folders I looked in but it doesn't seem to do that in Vista.
  20. Is it possible to sync your mobile device to your pc using the wifi network? I have a PPC6700 pda/phone with windows mobile 5.0. I have a wireless router setup on my home network as a wireless access point. Is there any way that you can sync to your pc using the network instead of the usb or bluethooth or infared?
  21. Is there a solution yet to the error message saying Mounting Image Error Did you restart after installing the filter manager? I have tried what was suggested here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...=filter+manager I am using Windows XP Pro with SP2 and vlite beta .9. If I install it on a machine that has vista then it works okay.
  22. I haven't checked here in a while. I now see you have the version with driver integration for vista. Thank you so much for your hard work in making this possible! I will be making a donation.
  23. I found it using google. If anyone else is interested here is what you do: Go to Admin tools=>Local Security Policy. Then Local policies=>Security options and set: Interactive logon: Do not display last username Enabled
  24. In XP I could create a user name and then edit the registry key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList] and hide the username from the welcome screen. I could login with that username by pressing the CTL+ALT+DEL keys. Is there any way to do this in Vista? When I press those keys at the login screen nothing happens.
  25. That didn't do it. It was something I installed. I did a system restore from a few days ago and now everything is back to normal.
