CPU Athlon 1700+ Ram 768 WinXP Pro It shouldn't stutter playing MP3s. But it does, about 15-20 times in a 4min song! CPU usage history shows small peaks of 5%. Maybe WMP is no longer buffering enuf from disk? What could have caused this? How do I fix it?

Pocket PC Wireless APIs
Birds replied to Birds's topic in Programming (C++, Delphi, VB/VBS, CMD/batch, etc.)
Found it. -
does anyone know where I can find information on developing for Wireless 802.11 for Pocket PC ie .net compact framework 2.0 or native API calls? I cannot seem to find any information anywhere and many network classes are not available in the compact framework. I want to display a list of access points and then connect to a certain predefined SSID if available.

I used Xable's Light Windows XP Post-SP2 Update Pack I noticed that normally there are desktop.ini files in the start menu and startup folder but on this machine they are not shown in the menu. Theye are only visible if you open an Explorer window
-
in the end, I couldn't get it to work using the normal set up. However I was finally able to get it to work by running the acmsetup after a few tries. is possibly a problem with VB6 rather than with nLite however I still have problem with some other msi programs.
-
your picture is very scary! shouldn't these be hidden by default? Did I somehow show them using nLite? especially since it's on the start menu
-
when I start up I have some extra files in my start menu. There is a desktop.ini in the programs and also the startup folder. does anyone know where these came from?

Argh! just noticed the version I have is 1.2RC!?! I'll try again using 101 and pray it works. ETA, nope, 101 also fails.

Helpful. I got some clues here, but still no go. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/250343/en-us http://support.microsoft.com/kb/195828

actually, I did a bit more testing. It is definitely not any of my settings. I made an installer using XP SP2, with nothing else that other than the unattended setup tab. In other words no components were removed or disabled. I try to run ActiveSync installer, and I get the following screen the installer is running from a map network drive, and the exact same file runs fine on my real PC. Can anyone advise on why this may be happening? or could it be something wrong with nLite 2.0? I would test with a plain Windows XP, but the installer refuses to run without patches to the operating system. Which is interesting because at least it is doing more than just displaying the commandline parameters there here is the screenshot for the gold XP

had tried to build the machine from the XP gold this with nothing customised other than the unattended setup section. but the install still wouldn't work. It works in my current machine, but it already has it is all at once, so something may be different there. borrowed an enterprise install disk from work, the install gets further but this time it asks me to update the Microsoft Java Virtual machine before starting the install! however if I let it try to install the virtual machine, an error happens anyway and it tries to reboot thinking that the installation had completed Next, I copied the whole CD onto a local disk for faster access since I was going to be testing this forever moree. And then I found that when I run the setup, sometimes it would work and sometimes it would say could not find the file acmsetup.exe (or some other file access error) is something strange is happening here?
-
actually, I'll rephrase that. Has anyone gotten VS6 to install at all? I didn't remove any components at all and only set up the unattended! It's either me or SP2.... and I get that it cannot run 16-bit applications and then the error above
-
I see, I had wondered whether it was to do with user settings. In that case, it would be useful for nLite just to be able to export the registry file for those settings so we can include them in the OEM folder. by way, when does that run? I have some command windows that run after my second reboot and login, but I would have expected that stuff to run before or on my first login is it't only the visual settings which do not work?to the other ones in the same panel still work?
-
I don't run any Web servers or use any front page applications. I do use visual studio 6 but not the Web components. I also use visual studio 2005 for C# Windows forms only
-
I'm getting the same error. Anyone have updates?
-
works great! thanks.
-
actually, more accurately it's only broken on my real machine. The same stuff seems to work fine in Virtual PC.
-
all the Registry tweaks do not seem to be taking effect. In particular I am talking about the visual enhancements, for example combo box animation, et cetera. I turn many of them off, but after installation Windows has all of them turned on

I think I must have stripped a bit too much from my installation. Some of my Windows installer based programs showed strange errors while installing or failed to install at all. And when I tried to install ActiveSync, it popped up the window showing commandline parameters! I've looked at the list in the sticky, but there's nothing specific about Windows installer. Is anyone have any tips? What services or components can be removed safely and which ones should just be disabled?.
-
nice! Is there anyway to get rid of the desktop icon automatically somehow?
-
is there any way to automatically populate the user and organisation during the setup that pops up halfway through
-
it seems that the problem is the titles are not clear, perhaps they can be relabelled to match the Windows messages next release. it seems that everything can be set except for the location. Where is the location set from? Here are the settings in the virtual machine after installing here are the settings used to build the installer
-
thank you for this. is working fine

what I have things in the add-ins place, even if I open the nlite time and time again they will still be listed there. Does that mean they are integrated each time into the source? what happens if I remove one of the add-ins from that list? Will it still actually be in the source because it was integrated last time?
