Sedative this is from my personal website!

By the way I will be hosting a server As soon as I get confirmation of the peeps who want to join. I will name it big booger v1.1 with a player load max of 16 peeps, 8 on 8, maybe 24 if my bandwidth doesnt choke.

Let me know if you want to fragment each other. I will set it up!

  3. diskeeper is very nice, and quick.

What I mean run the devilsown as a laptop means, when you go to install, do a custom installation, choose laptop as your system and it might speed things up a bit, I dunno, I have never really tried it, though it should work.

    big Booger

  4. get it to run smooth is I installed tweakXp and run some of the features. It tends to optimize the ram nicely, it will get rid of most of that horses*** in the start menu, do the atomic clock sync (cause I like to stay on time with things) do the UDMA modification, set up your DVD/CDRW for their respective speeds, run the cache optimization, clear the pagefile on shutdown, etc...

To get rid of the s*** that you dont want starting in XP use the tweak xp system + file tweaks ----> autostarts, the click the all users tab, and get rid of the crap you don't use or want. IF that doesnt work do the msconfig deal, if that doesnt work, then try this site

    http://www.extremetech.com/article/0,3396,...ap%253D6,00.asp

Very informative read with screenshots. Also, if you want to improve your boot times, try the bootvis, try going to your BIOS and setting up a quick boot, turn off PNP OS, etc....

Another thing is to disable the hibernation feature, defrag your PC often, update all your drivers for the best computing experience. Change to the Classic Windows Look, it helped my system.

    http://www.tipsdr.com/

try the site linked above. Very informative.

Lastly, try installing the devils own on your PC as a laptop. See if you get any performance boost. ANother thing, install the very minimum s***.

If you want to get the driver files for your HP from the HP disk you need to search your cab files for the drivers you want. once you have found the cab that contains the driver files for your system

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...b;EN-US;q129605

    try that site for extraction.

Then put those files on a floppy or CD. Or stick em in a file folder etc... Then when you want to install your s***, use those files.

  5. I don't give a rats a** about doing this but I tried following the directions that rev and drew gave you. Wurked like a burmese hooker on a hotdog.

Have to say now it opens up in a list. ANd I opened media player up 3 or 4 times and clicked open, and what the hell, there was a LIST of my files. But I dont give a ratz azz about this so I changed it back to thumbnails.

  6. muhahaha

Yeah, sometimes the :assshake gets the better of me.

    Big Booger

But seriously, he/she needs to get the upgrade, or full version of XP PRO or HOME. It will save you heaps of worries and system crashes.

But to address your problem have you mapped the drives? Another thing, take yourself about 8 bucks US, and get a crossover cable or a direct serial cable. These are very cheap and the easiest way to connect two PC's. If you are really desperate. Setup an FTP and send it back and forth over the net. If you are dealing with large files and want the fastest speed, again I suggest the serial/crossover cable.

  7. That it is because it is proprietary, considering they design those systems with the basic moron in mind, they want their systems to work well, so idiots and imbeciles can have a good computing experience, and purchase their products in the future. I tell you what I did for a compaq PC. At first I just deleted all the programs that I didn't want, like the compaq diagnositcs, the internet crap, the help guides all that s***. Then I updated every driver etc... System worked well.

So if you like your setup but dont like the crap that is installed, go to control panel add/remove programs and get rid of all the s*** you don't want. Then if there is more s*** they have put in that doesnt have an uninstall, go to c:/programs/ and then delete the folders of the crap you don't want. After deleting them, do a search on your system for any files with the folder name. Then use reg cleaner to get rid of the registry entries that were made by those useless programs.

But truly, I am sure the devils own is just as good as an OEM. What in particular are you looking for in regards to performance etc... when you install the devils own?

  8. I knew that, i don't know why i suggested this, other than I am sure I saw on a tweap board something about directx and 8.0a making a difference, from the one that is initially installed with XP.

So please disregard that point in my following post.

    Sorry,

  9. Try this site on mail merge info

The below listed article has been pasted from the above link.

Microsoft doesn't explain its reasons, but indeed, the Binder feature has been removed in Office XP. You can extract the files contained within a Binder file using a little utility called UnBind. For instructions, and to download UnBind, see the Microsoft Knowledge Base article Q281931, "OFFXP: Error Message When You Try to Open Microsoft Binder File," at http://support.microsoft.com/directory/art...B;EN-US;Q281931.

Note that even in Office 2000, Binder was not part of the default installation. MSKB article Q229410 (http://support.microsoft.com/directory/article.asp?ID=KB;EN-US;Q229410) explains how to install Binder in Office 2000.

if you need more help just post it,

sorry I could not offer more,

  10. Drivers, try them all... up to the 27.20 dets.

Next try the Mhz reduction as referred in a previous post.

And then try going to your display properties

go to control panel, display, settings, troubleshooting, reduce the hardware acceleration until the games start to work. And make sure enable writing combining is unchecked.

And try to use the programs in compatibility mode.

Also if you have overclocked that card, undo whatever you did.

Another thing, try a different card. If you still get the same results maybe your XP installation is crap.

Try playing with your direct X settings!

And lastly, get the new Geforce4 Ti 200 card.

  11. When you play games on any machine, AFAIK, some games automatically default to 640X480. I too would like to be able to do away with having to resize the screen when playing Quake, or UT, or Medal of Honor. If anyone knows how to make this automatic, please speak up!
