  1. i have downloaded a couple of bootscreens from themexp.org and most come with sp2 compliant versions.

as for 2003, im not sure. you should probably try neuro42's suggestion.

IMPORTANT!! : looks like themexp.org bundles spyware with the downloads. please be aware that installing these files may put unwanted crap on your computer. this is sad because this site didn't used to be like that.

now i gotta find another good site for themes and stuff.

  2. well from what i can gather the boot screen is kept in a file called ntoskrnl.exe. and on the xp cd, it's in the i386 folder as ntoskrnl.ex_

so, you should download a bootscreen. do the makecab command to take it from ntoskrnl.exe to ntoskrnl.ex_ then copy it to the i386 folder overwriting the existing one there (be sure to back it up) then voila - a new boot screen.

disclaimer: i have not tested this, so do this at your own risk! lol

  3. report his a** to ebay. for future transactions, i think there is some kind of protection you can get through ebay or paypal or something. i never paid for it until i got screwed just like you. i hope you didn't send a LOT of money. also, it is generally a good idea to only do business with established members of ebay. look for lots of positive feedback and such.

  4. since i discovered this program here at MSFN, i am obsessed. i find myself writing scripts to play jokes on fellow employees. there's not a more great way to waste company time!

does anyone else have cool scripts they wrote besides installers?

  5. i work at a helpdesk for PSEG. i seen this happen on computers before. i believe it is spyware related. those asses are getting smarter. their software deletes these files on boot, so other programs can't be installed to remove the spyware.

    DEATH TO SPYWARE CREATORS :realmad:

  6. well i believe that any software or hardware you install has to be coded to specifically work in a 64 bit environment. so i would count out all games. and a lot of software. i don't remember if xp 64 was supposed to emulate 32 bit or not. if it does, im sure it's half a** like 16 bit was in xp.

  7. I did try to google, but it seems that i couldn't match the keywords.... dow...

np. sometimes it helps to think about the wording for a minute, then search. for me, web searching was a difficult art to master because i have to change the way i would word things to the way it should be worded, or what not. i don't always think in the same way other people do. B)

  8. i doubt you'll get support for a P2P utility here. MSFN stays away from pirating software.
