  1. There's a thread in the Unattended Windows section that I started. I have the exact same problem. So far, no one seems to know of a solution.
  2. I tried using the following: wmcsetup.exe /Q:A /R:N /C:\"setup_wmc.exe /DisallowSystemRestore /Q:A /R:N" Problem is, I'm not sure what file name should be used. I tried setup_wm.exe and setup_wmc.exe. Neither works. The WMP10 System Restore warning message displays at the end of the silent install process. It seems to be the WMP10 System Restore msg, not one that's generated by wmcetup.exe.
  3. Joe User 99, Yes. WMP10 is already installed, but, WMP9 is included with SP2 and already installed before the Windows Media Connect, so the same thing will occur. Right?
  4. Just use /integrate:d:\winxp-cd replace d:\winxp-cd with your drive letter and folder name where your XP CD files are located. Don't try to point to the I386 folder.
  5. Joe User 99 Thanks for the help, but no go. In addition to the /qb switches for the msi, wmcsetup.exe /q:a /r:n results in a silent install. But, at the end of the install process, the System Restore warning window, with a Title of "Windows Media Player 10" STILL displays. Apparently it IS the WPM10 system restore warning message. I have System Restore turned off. Has anyone else figured this out?
  6. The Windows Media Connect optional update was released yesterday. At the end of the unattended install process, the System Restore warning displays, similar to WMP10's warning. I've been able to disable that message when installing WMP10, but can't find the correct switches for this update. Anyone have any luck with this one? Thanks.
  7. I have a 932. Its drivers are built into XP...I've never had to install them.
  8. I install Intellipoint 4.12 from RunOnceEx.cmd. Here is the exact code that works for me: REG ADD %KEY%\050 /VE /D "Intellipoint 4.12" /f REG ADD %KEY%\050 /V 1 /D "msiexec.exe /i \"%systemdrive%\Install\mouse\IP4_1.msi\" MM=\"IME3\" REBOOT=\"ReallySuppress\" /q" /f
  9. msiexec.exe /i %systemdrive%\Install\mouse\IP4_1.msi MM="IME3" REBOOT="ReallySuppress" /q
  10. I have been unable to install Belarc Advisor without the 'I Agree' screen at the end. My solution was to copy Belarc's install executable to Program Files and modify the start shortcut to run a .cmd file that runs the Belarc install executable, then modifies the shortcut to start Belarc in the normal way. It's transparent to the user, and works well for me. Frank
  11. Joe - only because I don't know how. I tried the /A switch and it didn't work for me. Frank
  12. One more post on Adobe Acrobat.... It appears that the msp file (for the update to 6.01) has to be installed from hard disk and not CD or DVD. I tried it this morning from DVD and it would not install. I modified my .cmd file to first copy it to %systemdrive%, and it installs fine from there. Acrobat Pro installs fine from DVD. Frank
  13. I use WinRAR. Right click on the file and select one of the 'extract' options.
  14. I am not using the ITW file. I install Acrobat Pro and the update from an unattended command file. I am installing Acrobat Pro via the .msi file that I prepared using WinInstall LE 2003 per the instructions in this forum. You will get the error you experienced if you do not path correctly to the Acrobat Pro .msi file. Hope this helps. Frank
  15. I've been successfully installing Nero VisionExpress using the following command: start /wait Install\Nero\nve.exe /SN=XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX /WRITE_SN /SILENT /NOREBOOT However, the latest version on Ahead's download page, dated April 30, 2004, stops during the install to display a file associations selection screen. Running Setup.exe /HELP does not provide a switch to bypass this screen. I tried the /NO_GU switch, and it does suppress the install screens, but the setup program still stops and waits for input...only now you can't see the screen to enter the input. Has anyone found a solution or workaround short of AutoIt or equivalent?? Thanks Frank
  16. No msi, no msp...just an exe file that does not have anything that can be extracted.
  17. mazin - Using your step-by-step instructions, I now have a perfectly working unattended install of Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0. How do I silently install or slipstream the 6.01 update?? Thanks. Edit - Got it! The following command works: start /wait msiexec.exe /p Ac60PrP1.msp REINSTALLMODE=omus REINSTALL=ALL /qb Now, how about the AtmoPlayer add-in? I can't find anything that works.
  18. I think you need to modify the line as follows: if %1.==. goto end
  19. I export the current home page, install AIM, then restore the homepage using the following code: REG EXPORT "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main" "%systemdrive%\Installs\HomePage.reg" start /wait Install\AIM\InstallAIM.exe /s sleep 10 REGEDIT /S %systemdrive%\Installs\HomePage.reg
  20. Thanks much for the help!! My install now works. The iKernel updater did the trick. I ran it before any of the InstallShield apps install, and then they all install fine. The task manager shows iKernel NEVER releases until after the restart...even the updated iKernel.exe file. There's also a file named knlwrap.exe that stays loaded during the entire install process. I suspect this is also part of the InstallShield stuff. I'm wondering if I run taskkill before I install each app, instead of updating iKernel, if that would also do it. When I get a chance, I'll test that and let you know. Again, thanks for the help. Frank Edit: Using Taskkill to terminate iKernel.exe and knlware.exe works great!!
  21. I'm installing half a dozen or more apps that use the Intallshield installer. I get an error msg that I don't have permission to write ikernel.exe to a folder on the last app that I'm trying to install. I've checked the Intstallshield web site and there is something up there about the various versions. The app that is giving me problems is using Installshield 6.31. There are some apps before this one that use version 6.22. I am logged on as a user with admin rights, and if I install this app separately, in an unattended manner, it works fine. The problem only occurs when I install it unattended along with a bunch of other apps. Anyone have any experience with or a solution to this problem? Thanks.
  22. Can MDAC 2.8 be slipstreamed into the unattended XP install? I'm not having much luck getting it done. Thanks
  23. I don't install it on my PCs...but I do for friends and family who use it. There is no folder that I can delete. I used RegShot and found two registry entries. When I delete these registry entries, the system folder is removed. Here are the entries: [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace\{955B7B84-5308-419c-8ED8-0B9CA3C56985}] [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace\{955B7B84-5308-419c-8ED8-0B9CA3C56985}] Does anyone know if these registry keys are constant, or do they change from machine to machine? I've only tested this on one PC. Thanks
  24. How do you delete a system folder in unattended mode? AOL 9.0 (I'm not a fan of AOL, but several of my friends and family members use it) installs fine in silent mode, but puts shortcuts, URLs, and a system folder on the Desktop. I am able to delete the shortcuts and URLs via a .cmd file, but not the system folder. Thanks.
  25. REG ADD %KEY%\170 /VE /D "copy" /f REG ADD %KEY%\170 /V 1 /D "cmd.exe /C\"XCOPY \"%CD%\NSW2003\MSDOS\*.*\" \"%allusersprofile%\Application Data\Symantec\Ghost\Template\Common\MSDOS\*.*\" /E /I /Q /H /R /Y\"\"" /f I used the Symantec\Ghost XCOPY as an example. You would have to change the path and file or folder name to suit your situation. You originally asked how to run XCOPY from RunOnceEx. You have to add the cmd.exe /C in order to do that. Alternatively, you can run XCOPY without the cmd.exe /C from a .cmd file, and call that .cmd file from RunOnceEx.
