  1. This one works for me without using any switches. 2. Yes, all of those, and more. I've also extracted the files from the setup and tried the switeches on the setup.exe that extracts. Unfortunately, there is no .msi file.
  3. Has anyone found a way to silently install the version 7 upgrade for the single-user version that is provided free as part of the Microsoft Partner Pack? The free version that is part of the Partner Pack installs silently, but the free update does not. At least, I can't find the correct switches. There are no .icf files with these personal versions.
  4. Run the executable until all files are extracted, then go to Program Files and locate the .msi and .cab files. Use these for the unattended install. Use the .msi file /QB switch.
  5. Simply store the folders and files in the SFX archive. Using your examples, set WinRAR to extract to %systemdrive%, then store the following folders and files in the archive: Download file001.XXX Temp File002.xxx Images File003.XXX Create the folders, copy the filles to them, then add them to a WinRAR archive.
  6. I've been using the /S switch for quite some time, but it no longer works with the newest AOL 9 'Security' edition. I really dislike the AOL software, and the newest edition is far worse than those before it, but, family and friends use it, so I have it in my unattended install collection. Ugh!
  7. I tried it with NSW 2005 and it only works on the machine that I used to install and uninstall NSW. It does not work on another PC.
  8. start /wait %systemdrive%\Installs\SetPoint\setpoint.exe -s -f1%systemdrive%\Installs\SetPoint\setup.issRun SetPoint with the -R (uppercase) switch first to create the .iss file.
  9. Ryan, I downloaded two days ago, installed on an older HP 1.8 P4 system yesterday and all went well. This evening, I installed on an Abit 2.66 P4 system and it rebooted immediately after the install. Strange.
  10. mazin, In case you missed it, it does install silently for me if I install NSW first, then NIS. And I can't use the CHECKPREV=0 switch for NSW (irrelevant since I'm installing it first anyway). The only 'issue' is that NIS uninstalls NSW's NAV, then reinstalls it. It takes a bit more time, but at least it works. Would be nice if NIS had a switch that suppressed the NAV part. If you learn anything when you have access to the software, I'd appreciate any info. If not, I can live with what I've got. Thanks again.
  11. I tried removing NIS's NAV folder. Doesn't work. Asks to insert the NIS CD and idicates files are missing.
  12. Right. I tried that with NSW (not NIS) and it didn't work. If I install NSW first, then NIS, it works, but without the switch.
  13. I did use taskkill and that works, but since then I've changed the process. I use the same procedure for Belarc Advisor...copy the install file to programfiles, and modify the shortcut to run the install file. Then run a .cmd file the first time it's executed to silently install the app, change the shortcut to actually start the app, then delete the install files. It works seamlessly, the install runs quicly enough that the user does not know it's happening, and the issues of IE loading and the Google Desktop starting the indexing process do not interfere with the rest of the unattended install process.
  14. It's working now, without the CHECKPREV=0 switch, but NIS still seems to uninstall NAV, then reinstall it. Everything installs in an unattended manner.
  15. You have to edit ABCopy.ini, then run setup.exe without any switches. ;*************************************************************** ;OEM Installation Options ;*************************************************************** [OEM Install] DisplayWelcomeDlg=NO DisplayXPDialog=NO DisplayEULA=NO DisplayTypeOfInstallDlg=NO DisplaySelectDestDirDlg=NO DisplayCustomDlg=NO DisplayUserInfoDlg=NO DisplayConfirmRegDlg=NO DisplayStartCopyDlg=NO DisplayFinishDlg=NO DisplayFinalMessage=NO DisplayRebootDlg=NO DisplaySubInstallerMsg=NO DisplayFileExtsDialog=NO ProgGroupName= DefaultDestDir= UserName="Owner of this Computer" UserCompanyName="Owner's Location" UserSerialNumber="XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX" DisplayBackGround=NO DisplayProgressBar=YES ProgressBarStart="0" ProgressBarEnd="100" SetupType=
  16. Has anyone come up with this? The /silent switch works, but Google loads IE at the end of the install to configure settings.
  17. Nilfred, I understand the default bahavior of an unattended install process. The point is, it didn't install. Others in this forum have had the same problem. Regardless, GreenMachine's method worked perfectly for me, so my problem is solved.
  18. That's what his method for wmc did for me...just extracted 'somewhere' and stopped. Don't think the problem was btwn the keyboard and chair...unless Nilfred meant his keyboard and his chair...heh, heh.
  19. I've finally gotten this sucker to work!! I used WinINSTALL LE 2003 to edit the .msi file and remove the condition check for Setup.exe. It's listed under the Advanced, then Launch Condition tabs when you load the .msi in WinINSTALL. Just highlight and delete. It now installs silently using the following command: msiexec /i "Ghost9\Norton Ghost 9.0.msi" /passive /norestart
  20. I'm getting closer. If I install NSW 2005 first, then NIS 2005, both install silently, but.... The PC restarts immediately after NIS 2005 installs, so my .cmd file does not finish. I'm deleting the temp folder successfully, and I'm using the following command for NIS 2005: start /wait NIS2005\SYMSETUP.EXE /O CHECKPREV=0 REBOOT=ReallySuppress /QBJust finished another test without the CHECKPREV=0 switch. NIS installed silently after NSW and the batch file continued correctly. Perhaps the CHECKPREV=0 switch is incorrect. One additional comment - when the NIS install starts, it spends a fair amout of time (probably 30 seconds) 'Initializing' and it seems to uninstall the antivirus component that NSW installed. Then it reinstalls NAV and continues with its other components. Strange. Is there a way to suppress NIS's installation of NAV? Thanks guys for the help in this thread.
  21. Nilfred's method didn't work for me. Guess I did something wrong. GreenMachine's method did work for me! Thanks GreenMachine.
  22. None of this works for me! I can install NSW 2005 silently, and I can install NIS 2005 silently, but I can not install both of them whether I delete the temp folder, temp files, etc., or not. NSW 2005 bombs out if NIS 2005 is already installed. Has anyone actually installed both silently?
  23. I would really like to install this in an unattended manner. Has anyone had any luck with this?
  24. It sure doesn't work for me. I'm running it from RunOnceEx.cmd, but turning system restore off first from cmdlines.txt via registry tweaks. If system restore is turned off, wmconnect generates the System Restore warning message. There's got to be a switch to stop it, but I'm not smart enough to figure it out.
