i tested /bashrats drivers on my laptop sony vaio z series, and did not encounter any problems. so i decided to test it on my pc asus p4c800 e deluxe motherboard, w/ ati9800 video card, 3.0e processor, 1 gb gail memory, liteon 16x dual layer burner, liteon 52x32x52, 2 160 SATA drives, samsung plasma lcd. during installation of devices it causes a crash and does a memory dump i hv not isolated the problem yet since my xp cd is located on the d drive of my pc. ok sorry for this post i didn't know this error is called portcls.sys i think the warning to the sound drivers pack should be larger and beside the download link. Bashrat i found a typo in your winnt.sif u hv drivers\sm\a it should be ----->>>> drivers\s\sm\a that means for the longest time no one has noticed that your winnt.sif has a typo i will check to see if this resolves the problem or not Problem FIXED!!! updated to the lastest bios, but i dont think that was it. restored r folder, c folder and cr folder. i deleted them in frustration Solution I Fixed the typo in winnt.sif. Here are my thoughts on the matter. While the drivers did exist the winnt.sif did not point to it. So XP decides to use the next best thing it can find. So when u deleted the Reltech, it will does not resolve the problem, bec. it will then try to use Cmedia drivers. Leading to a crash. If not a crash when u enter windows it will tell u it isn't a soundmax sound card but a reltech or cmedia. pretty frustrating. I tested this on another workstation and another laptop. It is now working fine. I did not change any of Bashrat's files. I did notice that some of the drivers are outdated. People i do not guarantee that this will also work for u. Pls test it and post. And sorry for the multiple post below. MCT told me to consolidate into a single post. I tried everything to make the postcls.sys go away. for hours. i mean hours.
