  1. It seems to be when I removed NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Protocol the errors seem to be tied into IPX/SPX so it could be cause I removed NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Protocol Service.
  2. I know how to do that. I want to restore it in Windows Setup. How do I bring it back in setup?
  3. (If this is put in the wrong forum Please don't ban me and just move it to the correct category) I tried to remove a lot of services and got this error: These are the services I removed: Automatic Updates Net Meeting NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Protocol FAX Service Messenger Service Alerter Indexing Service Remote Registry TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper Telnet Server Terminal Services I have Windows 2000 Advanced Server. I integrated U. SP5 before removing services because when I integrated U. SP5 after removing services I got lots of missing file errors. I used Microsoft Virtual PC for testing my Operating System. 4. Could anyone help me because if I can't get The Components Window in setup to work then I can't choose what I want and don't want installed.
  5. How can I bring back the Components window in windows setup wizard? I messed it up with unattended. Any way to bring it back?
  6. These are a list of other components other then Automatic Updates I also attempted to remove but failed. Beep Driver, and Beep Service. NNTP Fax Service Other vunerable services except IIS, ASP, WINS, DNS Server, COM service, and other needed services. I want a hardly vunerable server and only want to run what I need and not what I don't need. I never use junk like Fax Service.
  7. I want to remove Automatic Updates but when (this is not mainly a nlite topic) I tried to remove AU from my Components in setup it asked me to find those files on the CD in setup like so and so is missing. press esc to skip press enter to try again. press F3 to Exit setup So how can I remove AU or at least fix the AU.INF File without errors because I run a server not a vunerability farm. So how can I fix Automatic Updates not to come up or run at all. PS: I keep integrating updates manually, remove a lot of services so I shouldn't need much security updates, and I keep making security updates to the W2K Adv. Server Disks so I won't get hacked.
  8. I now found the source of the villian. NNTP is in a file called INS.CAB in W2AIS_EN\I386 Ha I got you NNTP. It has a bunch of nntp files heck the whole darn cab file is full of NNTPs. Should I delete INS.CAB and remove reference from all .INF files?
  9. I was using nLite to remove components I don't want off my server disk because all it's doing is adding more vunerabilities which means I have to keep adding patches, and hotfixes all the time. It also takes up memory which means I can't add really cool software like OpenOffice, and other big software into the disk instead of the vunerability junk components I don't need. I want to know how I can remove almost everything except the services I need, or want with nLite?
  10. For some reason I always have trouble with MSI installers. I also don't know how to do AIP installs. I want to collect the files you know extracting, then collect the registry information then make a exe installer. Can I do this to avoid compicated MSI installers runed on svcpack.inf. It seems like every other installer works good (except for Sygate firewall) except for MSI installers.
  11. What about Windows Defender 2. Also can the addon not be a MSI Installer because for some reason they never work with me. I checked out the link [Release] Windows Defender from RogueSpear but no longer hosts Windows Defender on exe. What am I gonna do. I can't use MSIs.
  12. I found out why this problem occured. Anybody who slipstreams MSI Installers need to install Windows Installer v3.1/3.0 last in svcpack.inf because Windows Installer v3.1/3.0 disables Windows Installer Service even if you choose not to restart and that causes Windows Installer needed installers to Fail. So I am going to test again and if it works don't silent install Windows Installer v3.1 or Windows Installer v3.0 until all other hotfixes, addons, and other silent installers are done installing.
  13. Please reply to this topic. I need to fix this install problem I have.

  15. Please help me. I don't know what to do. Nobody seems to help me as much as they used to. I got a problem with svcpack.inf For some reason some installers won't run. I believe it's the MSI Installers that won't run. So it looks like any MSI Installer addons won't work. What should I do to get MSI Installers working or convert them to exe?
  16. I have been trying to tweak it, copy all files into another install and I noticed something weird. IE7 is also for Windows 2003 so maybe if I need SP2 just to use IE7 for XP what about 2003. Does IE7 get tied into service packs for 2003 or is it Microsoft has fixed it badly that I can't. I want IE7 for my Windows 2000. I think it can be tweaked because anything is possible so will anyone take the challenge to help everyone who wants IE7 Addon for W2K? One out of many reasons why I want IE7 for my W2K CD is because what happens if W2K becomes obsolete because lots of websites only allow IE7 but not IE6. I can't upgrade my W2K because it's a Server Edition and I cannot afford to pay $3,000 or more just to upgrade for peats sake.
  17. Please could anyone give me a list so I can do unattended installs without missing components, or I want components but have to install them after the install.
  18. Maybe you should copy the new diles in driver.cab into DRVINDEX.INF to install those drivers.
  19. Windows 2000 Adv. Server. I had MDAC 2.5 before I tried to svcpack 2.8 SP1. Do you think I need to install 2.8 before 2.8 SP1.
  20. What about me. All my computers are licensed but one Forces activation. Could you help me?
  21. I have a problem with MDAC 2.8 SP1 because I use svcpack.inf to integrate. During setup I get a error acting like it won't install. Could you help me? Is there a way to just import it to the source since I have MDAC 2.5 just replace the files, and then edit the INF and put 2.81 for version information?
  22. I was wondering if theres a way to install all components automatically? I have a Windows 2000 Adv. Server disk. Could I use a command like * = On for all components.
  23. But could you give me a easy tutorial not because I don't what to do, but I could keep messing up something like a file. Could you give me direct instructions on how to do this?
