    Hello World

Welcome to MSFN! I'm just curious, what kind of sql error you saw and browser you use?
  7. I'm tuning database server, mail server, forums and a lot other things today. In some cases database will loose connection to mysql server while posting to forums and throw database error. I hope it is fixed now. As for notification I also tweaked and changed some settings. Hope it works now. Still working on other issues.
  8. IPB 4.0 is just around the corner and we hope FF/IE issues will be fixed up.
  9. That feature doesn't exist yet, sorry. What I can do is to change your mail or display name to something else.
  10. Deleting your account will broke discussion in topics you posted. Because of that we reserve right to keep your posts in place.
  11. Microsoft's official support for the Windows XP operating system ended more than a month ago. While some companies and organizations are still receiving updates for the operating system, end users do not. These companies pay Microsoft for that, usually because they were not able or willed to migrate computer's running Windows XP to another operating system before the extended support phase for the system ended. There is another exception to the end of support rule: Windows Embedded Industry, formerly known as Windows Embedded POSReady, operating systems continue to receive updates. What makes this interesting is the fact that Windows Embedded POSReady 2009 is based on Windows XP Service Pack 3, and that the security updates released for that system are identical with the ones that Microsoft would have released for XP systems. The extended support for Windows Embedded POSReady 2009 systems ends on April 9th, 2019 which means that you can use the trick to get another five years of security patches for XP. What you cannot do is go ahead and install those updates as you will get a version mismatch error when you try to do so. There is however a trick that you can use to bypass those checks so that you can install those updates on your version of Windows XP. Note: The trick works only for 32-bit versions of Windows XP SP3 and not 64-bit versions. While POSReady systems are very similar to Windows XP systems, it is recommended to back up the system before you make any changes as differences between the systems may result in issues after installing updates designed for it. 12. When you need to store massive amounts of data, solid-state drive (SSD) are the best way to go. However, SSD drives have a fatal flaw that often means they don’t last as long as they should. Because of a fault with their NAND chips, they can’t overwrite data efficiently. Current SSD technology works like this: files are saved to a clean part of the drive while the other part is formatted. This means that the drive eventually becomes fragmented, which leads to lower performance over time, as well as limiting the drive’s lifespan, especially with the consideration that SSD’s can only do a limited number of writes. However, a team from Japan’s Chuo University have fixed these issues and have created technology that allows for overwriting without all the hassle, making SSD drives a lot faster, a lot more efficient, and even longer lasting. The Japanese team used a “logical block address scrambler.” This basically keeps data from being written on the clean part of the drive, unless something specifically requires it. Instead, the data is put on a block that is erased and combined in its next sweep. There's less file copying going on in the background, which means that the drive runs a lot faster. It also means that because less is going on within the drive, you don’t need as much power to make the drive run. Finally, because the drive doesn’t become as fragmented, it experiences a longer life cycle. The tests of this new technology showed remarkable results: because the drive was writing data 55 percent less than in standard drives, the drive saw a speed increase of up to 300 percent. So instead of having a device that can reach a transfer speed of a measly 500MB/s, you now have a device that can transfer data at a lightning 1.5GB/s. The craziest bit, though, isn’t the speed. You don’t even have to go out and buy a new SSD drive to get these crazy transfer speeds. The technology is completely software-based, which means all you’ll have to do is download new firmware for your drive when it’s made available. How’s that for a win-win situation? Source: Dvice
  13. Microsoft today spelled out priorities for its Internet Explorer (IE) browser, and at the top of the list is "get users current." But while the company has made some strides in getting that job done, it's also left a greater proportion of its users behind than any other browser maker. "Everyone wins when more IE users are running the latest version of the browser," said Sam George, an IE program manager, in a Wednesday blog aimed at Web developers. "We will continue to build features -- like Enterprise Mode IE -- and partner with teams internal and external to Microsoft to enable users and businesses to confidently move to the latest version of IE." Laudable. But how has Microsoft done? According to data from Web analytics company Net Applications, Internet Explorer 11 (IE11), the newest version -- launched in October 2013 for Windows 8, then released in November to Windows 7 users -- accounted for 29% of all copies of IE used to go online in April. Spelled out another way, 71% of IE users ran a version other than the newest on their PCs. Other browser makers -- Apple, Google and Mozilla -- have larger portions of their desktop user base on the latest versions, and corresponding smaller shares running older editions. Last month, Apple had about 49% of all Safari users on the newest version, Safari 7. Google boasted 48% on its latest, Chrome 34. Mozilla took top honors with 72% on Firefox 28. (Some of the difference between Chrome and Firefox, both of which use automatic updates to keep customers current, can be attributed to timing: Chrome updated to version 34 on April 8, so for a week last month Chrome 33 was the newest; Mozilla pushed users to Firefox 28 on March 18, and didn't update to Firefox 29 until April 29, giving the former the entire month, less two days, to accumulate share in Net Applications' tracking.) Microsoft, like its rivals, also insists on automatic upgrades to the latest IE. So why does it trail the competition in the keep-current sweepstakes? Read more...

  19. So what is the limit and is the limit different based on admin versus regular user? And why would it load all the quote blocks with the quote button and then not allow them to be posted? Cheers and Regards Limit is set to 3 embedded quotes. I don't think it's good idea to set limit to high because some browsers may crash. OK, limit is now set to 10 emb. quotes.
