doesnt Opera have something in it to make it check to see if it is the default browser?

with Firefox, all i did was have it check, and then i clicked the button to make it the default.

i never messed with Vista's built in default program selector.

you must do it from the Opera browser itself, not from Vista's default programs feature.

From the Opera browser, click on Tools, select Preferences, click on the Advanced tab and click on Programs.

Check the box that says "Check if Opera is default browser on Startup"

click OK to save changes
