Manually Installing office XP?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have just successfully reinstalled Windows XP without losing any data. However, when I try to open some programs, such as ones from Office XP a message appears saying they are not installed anymore.

All the original office XP files still exist on my hard drive, is there a way to manually 're-install' office to let windows know that everything is still there.

I would delete all the files then re install office XP, but it came pre installed on my laptop and I dont have the setup disc.

Thanks

Even if you reinstalled XP without formating, you don't lose your data but you still have to reinstall most programs. You should have got the CDs with the laptop. There is no way around this.

Click the help menu in Office if you can get any part to load and then click on Detect and Repair. I hope that helps, but I am not sure since I am running Office 2003/2007 and never used Office XP. :hello:

If that isn't possible, enable hidden files and folders to be shown, search for a folder called MSOCache and you will find the files to reinstall Office. :thumbup

MSOCache wasn't implemented until Office 2003.

Also, I believe "Detect and Repair" will only work if the installation files can be accessed.
