GibsonSG Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 The disc I have for Windows XP Pro is an upgrade, it's getting old having to put my nLite disc in, wait for it to boot, then asks me for my previous windows version disc, then I have to take that out and put the nLite disc back in. I'm wondering if there is a way I can copy some files off my Windows 98 onto my nlite disc so that the XP install will think it is also the 98 disc so that I don't have to swap them out during install.I tried putting the whole Windows 98 folder on and it still made me put the original disc in. Is there a signature file or something that it's looking for that I could stick on the nLite disc?
RaGhul Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 Strange. Upgrade disks should work just like the full version, as long as it's OEM. In fact, as far as I know, Vista was the first OS to make you do what you describe. You could ResHack some files in your install to make it do this, but that's really not something you're supposed to do. It would violate MSFN rules for me to tell you how to do it.Not only that, but quite honestly, I think it'd be better to just get the full version.
