Autounattend.xml issues

So theres two issues im currenty having. The first is that I cant seem to get rid of the first screen durring vista setup. The one where you select "language to install", "Time and Currency Format" and "Keyboard or Input method". The second is a bit worse, since it pretty much breaks everything and makes the OS unbootable. Durring the install, I get an error of

"Windows could not parse or process unattend aswer file [C:\Windows\Panther\unattend.cml\ for pass [oobeSystem]. The settings specifies in the answer file could not be applied. The error was detected while process settings for component [Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup]"

This only happened after I tried to get the computer name set automatically, so i probably just had a mistake there. Thanks in advance for the help.

If windows is asking for your language/timezone etc, you must of ommitted that info in the xml, its not enough to include only in the PE setup but also need to fill the specialize pass & OOBE pass.

Noticed in the Shell setup area you have many empty values either fill the field or delete the key.

NB: When using the waik it has a built in help function just right click on any field item & it will give example etc.

Can't see exactly the problem in your specialize pass but the the shell setup is certainly an issue here. There must be an omission detected by windows halting setup.

Ok, update to this again. Ive got all those problems taken care of. It seems vista didnt like having the password as "", so i had to include some string of text that was generated when I created the xml file. Im now down to three small problems. The first is my OEM information isnt being put into the install (its just onder computer properties, right?); second, my "network location" isnt being set automatically. I get prompted after setup to choose either work or home or whatever the third one is. Last, Windows update isnt set to download and install updates automatically. I though <ProtectYourPC>1</ProtectYourPC> was supposed to do it, but it isnt working.

I may just have these things under the wrong pass. Im hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

1. <RegisteredOrganization /> <RegisteredOwner />

They are out of place as the belong right after the opening tag and the backslash goes in front <RegisteredOrganization>MaxXPsoft</RegisteredOrganization>

2. I get prompted after setup to choose either work or home

You find the fix to that then let us know.

3. ProtectYourPC specifies whether to display the "Help protect your computer automatically" page of Windows Welcome to the user. There is no default value. If a value is not set, the page opens during Windows Welcome.

Funny but I use a reg tweak to disable Auto updates otherwise they run on my builds

If you enable SkipMachineOOBE, any settings specified for ProtectYourPC and NetworkLocation in your answer file are ignored.
