Easy as the title. Whenever i plug in an usb flash drive or an usb hub to my laptop it will ask for a driver!!!

I installed Windows vista x64 slimmed down with vLite and i also dissabled suggested services.

I have never tried an install with the normal vista x64 disc but i want to know if any of you guys know whats wrong? Its very anoying i cant use usb drives people lend me or the usb hub of my kvm switch.

Weirdest thing is that when i intalled vista with the same vlite slimmed disk in my desktop with the usb hub connected it works flawless. Only my laptop which hadnt the usb hub plugged in at install wont find a driver when plugged.

Please help!

Haven't you answered your own question, works ok on another pc.

it worked because the usb hub was connected at install, i actuallly didnt try connecting it after installing thats why im not sure.

I dont know if this is the same as my problem but I had win XP then I got windows vista, and cant get my USB's to work now, well sounds similar, only difference is its on your lpa top you cant get it to work,IW as going to try qand re instal vista again but it wont work coz I already used that product key,I think this is a stupid idea it is reasonably expensive to buy an operating system so if you have re instal it again you cant unless you get a new product key....completely dumb.

I found the reason after all, it was just a driver issue. Reinstalled vistax64 in my laptop and it worked.

Pleezed you got it sorted, wel I know mines is a driver issue as well I doint know where to get tthem I tried windows uipdate and also searched the net,but nope....so I am rather stuck at the moment lol!

I was told coz I had vista I have to update my stiuff like my digital camera etc,but I cant see what Ia m supposed to do with my Ipod,I can go inot program files fined the Ituine EXE and right click and I disable the compatibility mode, and that dont work eiher (Ipod still not recognised).

Plus i dont really think my USB's are actually working,I want to buy a web cam and some other stuff, buit this prblem is putting me off, because I dont know for sure if they will work as I cant get vista to recognise my camera or Ipod,so whose to say it will recognise a new web cam....or whatever else I buy.
