HFSLIP cant Extract my Hotfixes

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Eg.

HFSLIP1.4.2.1.cmd uses

D:\HFSLIP> START/WAIT HF\Q908506.EXE /T:"D:\HFSLIP\TEMP" /C

to Extract files to HFSLIP\TEMP & later xcopy to WORK\i386E

which unfortunately dosent work for me

instead of /T: the /EXTRACT: switch works for me!

why do i need to do this? i am not using old ver of HSLIP am I ?

also i place my $OEM$ folder under D:\HFSLIP\SOURCES

which later on is copied to root of CD.

But after completing the setup the files under $OEM$

dosent get copies why? i will try placing it under i386 to test next tyme.

the sp5files.zip containing files to remove IE completly is

for Windows 2000 Professional

so if I need to make changes

on my win2k server TXTSETUP.SIF

and DOSNET.SIF placed in FDVFILES

folder what modifications R Needed ?

and any other modifcations needed

for anyother files from sp5files.zip?

thanks for Everything.

I've learnt a lot trying HFSLIP:)

still learning.

There are basically two types of hotfixes that HFSLIP supports: "Type 1" and "Type 2". Different switches are needed to extract these.

The problem is that it's impossible to know if a hotfix is Type 1 or Type 2 beforehand, but Microsoft decided not so long ago to name the Type 1 hotfixes in a special way so we use that to distinguish Type 1 from Type 2 hotfixes in HFSLIP. There are a few exceptions (mostly for XP SP1) which had to be hardcoded.

In other words, it's important that the hotfixes you include have their original name. "Q908506.EXE" is treated as a Type 2 hotfix but it's a Type 1 hotfix.
