I'm suffering from loosing my disk space on C:\ drive..

I turned off system restore and don't know what to do...

I had after installation 18GB free space form 25GB...

after couple restarts... boom.. 15 GB.. and then decreased to 14.8GB..

any hint or advice will be really appreciated...

Thanks in advance.

The culprit is System Restore

Go to

Control Panel\System and Maintenance\System

In the left pane, click System Protection. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Turn off System Protection for a hard disk, clear the check box next to the disk, and then click OK.

This deletes all Restore points and removes the hidden System Volume Information folder

If you want to keep System Restore try this alternative:

Delete files using Disk Cleanup

Right click C: in Computer select Properties Select Clean Up

Select More Options tab

In System Restore and Shadow Copies box click Clean Up t his deletes all but the most recent restore point on the disk.

System Restore uses restore points to return your system files to an earlier point in time. If your computer is running normally, you can save disk space by deleting the earlier restore points.

Freeware VisDir works in Vista and ignores all access denied issues, bar-graphing every file, whether system, hidden or super-hidden down to MB resolution.
