AntiKris Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Hey guys, I'm trying to install the realtek ac97 drivers on x64 vista. I keep getting the security message referring to the fact that the driver's not signed, so I don't think it's installing. I've hit "install anyway" about fifty times thus far, but, like all good microsoft products, I think it's ignoring what I clearly want it to do, and is going with what it thinks best... namely, not installing. I've looked through the forum posts, but haven't found a clear answer. Is there a way to get this driver installed, and tell Vista to STFU while doing it? Any help appreciated!Chris

AntiKris Posted March 6, 2007 Author Posted March 6, 2007 Thanks, I tried that. However, I'm still getting the annoying "Windows Can't Verify the Publisher of this Driver Software" message every fifteen seconds or so. Eventually, I can slug through it, but it doesn't appear that the driver is installed after all of that.Anyone else?
ripken204 Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=94825very strange. im on vista x64 with AC97 drivers and it worked just fine. i did have to click the install anyways button and it worked... so i dont know what to tell you besides try the latest driver.
cluberti Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Did you download the drivers directly from Realtek? I had trouble with vendor drivers, but the Realtek drivers themselves installed just fine on x64.
kabl00ey Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Have you checked to ensure that the onboard AC97 is enabled in the BIOS? I had the exact same problem (with the constant popup) and after about an hour of mucking about I discovered I hadn't enabled it in the BIOS.

I hate integrated sound!
