tacoeater Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I am having this same problem antonio_king opened a thread about back in December. The last post in that thread was December 9th.I had downloaded all the extra things in the your latest Tomcat76 interactive page then I keep getting this activex problem. I download and it says it is registering but it keeps going back to the register page. The only difference is that I have not integrated IE7 as was the case with antonio_king and his problem. To begin with just what is the activex that has evidently not been slipstreamed? What is it's filename? The only thing I see that resembles it is the wucab. I remember that even though I had this file i downloaded it again and replaced the one that was there. Could this have caused my problem? Please suggest something that may help me out. Thanks,Alan
Tomcat76 Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 For Windows Update and Microsoft Update, you need:WindowsUpdateAgent20-x86.exe (HF)LegitCheckControl.cab (HFCABS)For Microsoft Update, you'll also need:MUWEB_SITE.CAB (HFCABS)
tacoeater Posted February 26, 2007 Author Posted February 26, 2007 (edited) Thanks,I already have all three of those files. I did go ahead and do the suggested registering of a list of about six files that is beneath the register place which it continually looped to and then i was able to use windows update. i do not know what file fixed it of that list and would really like to know this. i did notice that KB905474Notification, which I already had in HF, was in the list of critical updates that I was presented with. Although this install seems to be fixed i still don't know what to do about producing a cd which would result in a good install. Any other suggestions? Edited February 26, 2007 by tacoeater
Super-Magician Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 What exactly is the problem you are having?I think you referred to KB905474. A newer version of this update was recently released. Try the standalone installer (placed in HF, released 02/21/2007).I've also noticed that in order for Microsoft Update to work on first try (this is not for Windows Update) without reinstalling the components, you must import some entries. Here's a file for XP that you can place into HFSVCPACK.DataStore.exe
