ykchanaed
Thanks for your advice SuperMagician.By the way I tested the English XP SP2 source with similar conditions except with much fewer hotfixesand put the 2 RogueSpear's .Net installers in HFSVCPACK folder. To my surprise , the 2 installers appeared in the new SOURCESS\i386\SVCPACK folder.I will try the full hotfixes now! ykchanaed
I tested with the English XP SP2 source with the all the hotfixes listed by TommyP 's update list.I put some swithless installers in the HFSVCPACK folder: .Net 1.1 , .Net 2.0, Adobe Reader 8.0, Java Runtime......They all suceeded. They all appeared in the new SOURCESS\i386\SVCPACK folder.Installed in WMware, they all appeared in Add/Remove list. But in same setting with Traditional Chinese source ,only HFSLIP appeared in Add/Remove list. The HighMat CD, Right management, User Profile Cleaner were absent too! ykchanaed
I tested again with the Traditional Chinese XP Pro SP2 source with all the hotfixes.I put the switchless installers in HFSVCPACK folder.Somehow this time , these installers appeared in the new SOURCESS\i386\SVCPACK folder. And they were also present in the resulted ISO.During the T-13 phase , some windows flickered , around 4.But still , .Net 1.1 , 2.0 , Adobe Reader ... were not installed. They were not in the Add/Remove list and they also appeared in Windows Update!Only and ONLY one HFSLIP appeared in Add/Remove list and no others!Help! ykchanaed
In conclusion, HFSLIP handles English XP SP2 source with no problem.Really , it is great! But when it comes to Traditional Chinese XP SP2 source, it has some bugs , I would say. With exactly the same settings, the following appeared in the Add/Remove list in the hfslipped English OS:But in Traditional Chinese source, only HFSLIP appeared in the above list. ANDAny things in HFSVCPACK seemed not work in Traditional Chinese source. Edited May 1, 2007 by ykchanaed
Tomcat76
I don't know what could be so different about a CHT installation.Run HFSLIP with everything in HFSVCPACK. Install that.In your next post, attach the HFSLIP.CMD file from the SVCPACK folder. I'll provide further instructions then. Tomcat76
OK... Here's the instructions. This should be done on the new CHT system.1) Download the attached file and extract it to your Desktop (file: HFSLIP2.CMD)2) Insert the CD with which you installed Windows (exit installation if it starts)3) Run HFSLIP2.CMD and read what's reportedykchanaed.zip Edited May 7, 2007 by Tomcat76
ykchanaed
thanks for your cmd file. This cmd installed the swithchless installers after the full system has been set up.It has no problem except the reader8.exe, maybe the reader8.exe was corrupted.I tried to modify the hfslip2.cmd a bit ( just delete the "PAUSE" 'es ) and replaced the hfslip.cmd in the new ISO and set up with this ISO with VMWare. It still could not install these installers during T-13 phase. What kind of problem was that? Thanks for your help! Tomcat76
What I wanted to check is if either the variable didn't get set or if you have an I386\SVCPACK folder structure in the root of one of your hard drives. Neither appears to be the case. Can you ZIP SVCPACK.INF and attach it here? However, the fact that Adobe Reader didn't install is quite suspicious. Double-check that the CD/DVD you're using hasn't gone bad and that there are no errors on your hard drive. It would be wise to open up a command prompt (Start > Run > CMD) and type in the following:chkdsk /r x:...where "x" is the drive on which your HFSLIP working folder resides. ykchanaed
I confirm that the problem was not related to the reader8.exe.I replaced the corrupted file with another functioning file. It simply installed itself.
Tomcat76
SVCPACK.INF is OK. It seems like Windows setup never uses SVCPACK.INF.Is SVCPACK.INF present in WINDOWS\INF after installation? Can you attach setuperr.log from the WINDOWS folder? This should be the last file... Kiki Burgh
Instead of posting the file in many parts, ykchanaed, it would be better to ZIP up the file and upload it. Try 7-Zip, WinRAR, or any of the many other popular file compression programs.couldn't agree more so that readers don't have to do long scrolling ... do the same for your hfslip.log moving forward ... attached it in compressed format
