NERO 7.7.5.1 XviD Sync Problems

I installed Nero 7 Premium v7.7.5.1 its working ok for me. The only problem I have is I can't convert XviD to DVD using Nero Vision 4, because it goes out of sync. The same file plays fine in WMP11 or PowerDVD, but if i play the same file in Nero Showtime or Nero Vision its way out of sync!

I've got the Vista Codec Package v4.2.5 installed so i don't think its a codec problem, any ideas??

I dont use codec packs, your better off installing each individual codec anyways.

Its a possibility that the encoding framerate is too high/low depending on how the audio sync is behaving.

Is it always out of sync form the beginning, or does itstart fine and get worse as it plays along?

For NTSC Film: 23.976fps with 3:2 pulldown [23.976 (29.976 internally)]

For NTSC Video: 29.976

For PAL: 25fps

Now be more specific, is the source file playing out of sync in Nero, or the output DVD?

As for codecs:

XviD/DivX: http://www.koepi.org/XviD-1.1.2-01112006.exe

AC3 Filter: http://ac3filter.net/index.php?name=News&a...icle&sid=18

DivX 3.11 Alpha: http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Codecs/divx_311alpha.exe

3ivx: http://www.3ivx.com/download/index.html

Ogg Vorbis (Theora) Decoder: http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Filters/OggDS0995.exe

Lame MP3: http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Audio/lame3.95.1.zip

Less than 5 minutes downloaded and installed, and chances are, thats all you need.

Thanks for the reply,

I tried installing the codecs all individualy in the begining and then I used the codec pack thinking that might be the cure, but that didn't help. The video is playing out of sync in Nero and the DVD output is out of sync too. This happens from the very beginning of the video and stays the same throughout with all the XviD's i've tried.

The thing I can't understand is the video plays perfect in all the other players i've tried

I'll try using the links you've posted and see if i get a better result...

Well my cat just jumped on my keyboard and screwed up my post. Now i have to start all over ARGH!

I suggested installing the individual codecs instead of codec packs b/c of their track record of causing compatibility issues.

Anyway, it seems to me that Nero is the problem here, considering it is playing both the source file and the DVD wrong whereas other apps play them fine.

So I would try reinstalling Nero or grabbing an updated version from their site.

Or you can try getting another software, theres tons out there for converting AVI to MPEG2 streams. I personally use TMPGenc, it does a wonderful job :)

I think what is happening in converting pal to ntsc or ntsc to pal. The audio and video dont line up. Use convertx2dvd when converting.

Thats not the problem, if i have NTSC i make an NTSC DVD same for PAL i still have the same problem in Vista good thing i've still got XP on my laptop as i'd be screwed!

I received a series of XVID encoded files for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I usually play my DVDs and video files using Nero showtime. I tried WMP10 and I had the same problem. I found and downloaded the latest Xvid codecs and upgraded to WMP11. This does the job just fine. So doed BSPlayer.

In Nero, the lag is clearly progressive. It seems that the associated audio is being played at +/-30fps and the video a couple of fps slower. After a couple of minutes you get totally lost. If the video is recoded or converted to VCD or DVD, the sync problem is carried over.

I read somewhere that if you renamed a couple of files "\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter\NeVideo.ax" and ""\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter\NeAudio2.ax" it would work. I renamed them and it did work. The problem is that Nero doesn't play DVDs with this files renamed. Nor does WMP11. Anybody knows what these files are?

Obviously the problem are Nero's versions of the XVID codec. Is there a way to force Nero to play the video at a given fps rate?
