aparna_aparna Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Hello all,I formatted my PC and tried to do an install of Win XP. But during the install, the files soundrec.chm, sounds.chm, sound.drv, soundrec.hlp were missing. I still ignored them and continued with the installation, and now the installation is complete. The CD does not seem to have those files. So what can I do about this now.. where can I download those files? How should I go about it?Kindly please help me on the this!!Many thanks in advance.
nitroshift Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 The problem is that the optical drive couldn't read those files on cd because it is scratched.
aparna_aparna Posted January 21, 2007 Author Posted January 21, 2007 Okay.. so what should I do about this now.. Please provide a solution!
nitroshift Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 (edited) See if you can copy the i386 folder from the cd over to your pc. If you can, use nlite to make a bootable cd of your xp. For more info on nlite, see here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=28005 Edited January 21, 2007 by nitroshift

Jeremy Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 The files are missing from the boot CD as well... Please tell me how I should proceed now.. Is there any other way that I can download those missing files from anywhere else?? Or any other way?Is the CD actually scratched? Sometimes the smallest of particles or smudge on either the CD or the drive's lens can prevent proper read from occurring. Usually in those cases you can polish the under-surface with a smooth cloth or use compressed air towards the inside of your CD/DVD drive and allow successful read. Also if you Google most .DLL files on Google, it provides a download link in last-resort situations. Try copying the contents of the CD to your HDD and using nLite to create a new bootable ISO.
