StephenC
You need to make the usb stick bootable. Just copying files won't work.
mitsukai
a boot sector IS a file.
Speeddymon
a boot sector IS a file. The USB stick stil has to be told how to _use_ that file. If you just put boot.cat and boot.bin on the usb stick, that is not going to make it bootable.
StephenC
It was easier back in the good ol' DOS days. One way of making a bootable usb thumbdrive:http://advancemame.sourceforge.net/boot-readme.htmlAlso, HP has a program called: HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool. StephenC
A Win98 startup floppy disk is a good source for the boot files or www.bootdisk.com to get one.Read the setupxp.htm in the root of the XP install cd for instructions on how to run setup from the command prompt. I would add the command i386\winnt.exe to the end of the autoexec.bat file.
