hi i want to boot my installation from usb as i dont have cd's lieing around here and im to lazy to buy them and my installs are small enoughfor usb..

but when i boot from my usb it says "invalid system disk, insert system disk and press enter"

i gave my "system disk"(usb device) a volume name called "CJ" does this cause troubles?

if it matters i just copied the iso contents iwth winrar onto my usb stick

last session attached(basicly all components removed and some tweaks/patches)

LAST_SESSION.INI

a boot sector IS a file.

The USB stick stil has to be told how to _use_ that file. If you just put boot.cat and boot.bin on the usb stick, that is not going to make it bootable.

A Win98 startup floppy disk is a good source for the boot files or www.bootdisk.com to get one.

Read the setupxp.htm in the root of the XP install cd for instructions on how to run setup from the command prompt. I would add the command i386\winnt.exe to the end of the autoexec.bat file.
