Lord-Beldingfield
Hi,I have installed windows 2003 server enterprise edition, however, when i plug my external harddrive in via USB2 it is listed under safely remove hardware but not in 'my computer' as a hardrive. There is nothing wrong with my external disk drive, i tested it on another computer. Does anyone know of a solution? Thanks in advanced,Matt Edited January 5, 2007 by Lord-Beldingfield
jondercik
Server 2003 I dont think automatically assigns it a drive letter. Go into disk management and see if it is listed there.Jim
mmarable
Jondercik is right. Win2003 does not automatically assign drive letters to external drives like WinXP does. You will have to fire up Disk Manager and assign a letter to it. After that, each time you plug that drive into the Win2003 box it'll get that same drive letter. Lemonzest
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MountMgr]"NoAutoMount"=dword:00000000copy that to a text file and save as a reg file, also works for any removable device like USB memory sticks/Camera's etc
