rmtiel
Am I doing something wrong??Via nlite I've integrated KB893803 (windows installer 3.1) within my windows xp sp2. The creation of the iso file gave me no problem. But when I run the iso file and after completion go to the microsoft update site, the windows installer is not recognized and it has to be installed again. Is this a bug or have I done something wrong? Thnx from the Netherlands!
Alex
Yes, installer integration seems improper to me too, I pmed to nuhi, still no answer on that. Even if it integrates which is my case, still some permissions are missing.Let's hope nuhi will take care of that.Alex
rado354
Are you sure you integrate the proper file?KB893803-v2?Because it's working fine for me...
Alex
@rado354Check if You have those permissions and post back, because if not, that means installer is integrated improperly.HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer System and Admins - Full Control Everyone- Read HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\Compo nents System and Admins - Full Control Everyone- Read HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT System and Admins - Full Control Everyone- Read HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pip System and Admins - Full Control Everyone- Read HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer System and Admins - Full Control Everyone- Read HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Components System and Admins - Full Control Everyone- Read HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes System and Admins - Full Control Everyone- Read Alex
rado354
Alex, unfortunately I can't check this now, because I restored with TrueImage and God only knows what kind if Windows installation I'm using in the moment But a few days ago I installed a new fresh copy of WinXP with this integrated, and all my software was installed properly and there was nothing on WindowsUpdate except the Adobe Flash hotfix. So IMHO it should be working or at least it doesn't create me problems Edited November 15, 2006 by rado354
EviLEd
I was also having issues with Windows Installer v3.1 (v2). It was not integrating(?)(but no error msg) and always failed manual install or windows update install with an "Access is denied" error. I wasn't having this problem last month or before nlite v1.2.1. I thought maybe it was either related to the new version of nlite or Nov '06 hotfixes. As it turns out I was integrating (v1) & (v2) of Windows Installer v3.1 as far as I can tell. When I removed (v1) from the list of hotfixes the problem has now been corrected and windows update works fine without prompting me to install Windows Installer v3.1 (v2). Hope that helps. WindowsInstaller-KB893803-x86.exe <---Hotfix removed.I am also going through all my hotfixes to see if any are not needed. I have about 93 but running a "plain" copy of Winxp Pro SP2 Corp against windows update shows I should only need around 70.PS GREAT WORK WITH NLITE OS!!! rado354
EviLEd, 93 updates are too much. They should be ~ 60-70, for more info: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=86450

EviLEd
Never mind what I said. I had to put "WindowsInstaller-KB893803-x86.exe" back into integration. At this time it seems that the problem has resolved itself. I didn't do anything different. But for the first time I am getting a box about system restore being turned half way through the setup. Is that even an option in nlite? I am going to do it again without integrating these 2 hotfixes.Update for DRM-enabled Media PlayersWindowsMedia-KB891122-x86-ENU.exeSecurity Update For Windows Media Player Plug-inWindowsMedia-KB911564-x86-ENU.exermtiel,i was missing those also. Alex
Easy to check. Made cd with 1.2.1 and integrated only installer. Made the same with 1.0.1. With first disc permissions are missing, with second in place. The same problem was with one of ealier versions of nlite 0.99bx. Relatively small bug, but anyway, pls fix it nuhi. It can have impact on installations and cause probs.Alex
