bung
I am experiencing continual stop errors. Mainly in game play using Joint Operations, command and Conquer generals, or any cd, dvd burning tools. The stop error reads driver_irql_not less_or_equal...and a range of various numbers.I have updated video driver, motherboard driver, chipset and any others my computer tech has given me. I have run antivirus scans on numerous occasssions, as well as spy ware and registry checker.I have performed a scan disk and check disc/r with no real result.Computer details below:Any help would be appreciated;STEVE Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp.050928-1517) Language: English (Regional Setting: English)System Manufacturer: System manufacturer System Model: System Product Name BIOS: BIOS Date: 01/02/06 09:32:54 Ver: 08.00.12 Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~2.2GHz Memory: 3040MB RAM Page File: 259MB used, 4665MB available Windows Dir: C:\WINDOWS DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)DX Setup Parameters: Not found DxDiag Version: 5.03.2600.2180 32bit Unicode------------DxDiag Notes------------ DirectX Files Tab: No problems found. HyperHacker
Any time you get a Stop error:1) Write down the message and numbers (5 numbers like 0x12345678).2) Go to Microsoft.com and look up "STOP [first number]".3) Read up on the description. It usually describes common causes and fixes. You may need the other 4 numbers to determine what exactly is wrong.4) If none of that helps, ask for help. bung
Thanks for your reply....I have contacted microsoft with the stop error numbers. They are not able to identify the problem. I do not get the same numbers each time I encounter a stop error. I have checked the forums and they have not been of any use so far, hense my enquiry here. Ctrl-X
Someone posted a quite extensive description and troubleshooting guide for this error at Experts Exchange.
cluberti
Getting at least a kernel memory dump to review the next time it occurs would help us greatly. Those errors can be a whole host of things, and without a memory dump, we're all just making educated guesses. And in my experience, it's usually not your hardware drivers at fault, but drivers for software (like CD burning software, antivirus/antispyware software) that are the ultimate culprit. nosey1
Do any of your games use starforce DRM???
cluberti
Ah yes - starforce + Daemon Tools = lots of bugchecks. If you've got both, get rid of one or the other .
