XP Installation language

Hey !

I got from abroad an original XP PRO disc, and I want to upgrade my current legal too :) (really) Home edition.

The Pro one is in spanish (the installation and windows itself).

I want to create a new version, including SP2 and all the updates, etc.

Is there any option in NLITE or somehow else to change the installation language from spanish to english and also the XP version itself ?

The installation starts in spanish and i can't understand nothing :)

Please help me..

Also, I use "Windows Updates Downloader" and i downloaded lot of updates (all of them) but nlite won't install lot of them, like the dot net i think, i put the file in the addons section, and when it is compiling, a help box of the installation of that addon popup's up but it doesn't slipstream it.

thanks :)

hi luish! the default language of your cd is what is always used upon installation ... i may be mistaken but when you get to the language settings (unattended section in nLite), you may try to change it to english ...

No.

If your CD is in spanish, your XP is in spanish. Multilingual DVDs from OEMs exist in multilangual countries (here in Belgium for instance) but it's not usual.

As for your insistance on the fact both your XP HOME and your CD are legal, I doubt the upgrade is.

I will take a pic of boths of the disks to show you they are legal.

And i can change the language of XP itself via Nlite ?

I understood that the installation i cannot change.. but the whole XP... there is a thing called MUI, right ? how do i set it to english and not spanish as default?

From MS's site: you can't.

-MUI is an add-on to the english version of XP.

-The Windows XP/2000 MUI is sold only through Volume Licensing programs

windows XP is packed with languages, although the place where its sold determines the default language. towards the end of nLiting XP in the unattended part, theres a place where you can select a language...also you can remove plenty of unused languages with nLite. my XP uses english, and only english, every other language was deleted when i nLited it.

yes you can change it, but it'll take some searching for, its in the unattended part i think.
