eidenk Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 One other report for this error but with no solution :http://www.supportnet.de/fresh/2006/9/id1420753.aspAs always, if you were able to pinpoint aproximately where in time it begun, it would possibly give you a clue as to what changed in your system around that time that could be responsable for it.Do you run Dr Watson ? Sometimes it gives a bit of a clue if it is able to intecept the crash.
Arrow Posted November 6, 2006 Author Posted November 6, 2006 (edited) Thanks I've not tried dr watson before.Apart from starting it and taking a snapshot I'm not sure how to use it?I can't pinpoint what brought it on. I first noticed it over a month ago, however I've had a stinking flu since then and what I was up to on the pc at that time is a distant vague blur.scanned disk for errorsdefraggedTried unistalling any recent new softwarescleaned registry of themscanned for nasties etc.It doesn't happen when my partner uses voice recognition softwareon the pc.Only happens when I'm doing things with the mouseTried a different mouse. but I'm sure its nothing to do with a mouse as I can see from searching around that loads of people get/got explorer errors on 9xit can be copying or moving a file, opening or closing a folder or applicationrightclicking on something - seems very random. Can go for hours with nothing then can get a whole spate of it.If there is a pattern I've not spotted it. eidenk Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 (edited) Dr Watson simply intercept a certain number of crashes and automatically makes a snapshot including a crash log when it happens but it is usually very difficult to get something meaningfull for a end user out of it.What do you find under the hook tab in Dr watson snapshot ?Could you actually post a Dr Watson snapshot as it gives many usefull information as to what runs in your system, particularly at low level ? Arrow Posted November 8, 2006 Author Posted November 8, 2006 (edited) Thanks I haven't touched anything like that.Maybe the vendor did but that was 4 years ago, if so its taken a long time to surface. This pc doesn't get any heavy usage I use my other one with xp for burning and stuff. Edited November 8, 2006 by Arrow

Let us know which one it was when you'll find out.
Arrow Posted November 10, 2006 Author Posted November 10, 2006 (edited) On a forum of highly resourceful people it is natural to extendcredit to those of us who are basically duffers. A few hours will tell but I'm pretty sure its either clean disk security which has a right click option for fully erasing files or folders.or possibly the right click desktop option provided by the intel graphics control driverwhich I came across via the nirsoft shellexview pagehttp://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.htmlhttp://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/cs-003927.htmEven tho' the rt click wasn't slow I already ran the reg file to disable it as it doesn't sound to good. oscardog Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 In the past clean disk security has caused me problems, I disabled all of its shell extensions which were the cause of most of my problems after this software was installed. I still use the program today but I know that after I have run secure disk I will need to reboot otherwise over a period of time it will bring up a blue screen
Arrow Posted November 10, 2006 Author Posted November 10, 2006 (edited) Thats useful to know oscardog, thanks.I've used clean disk for ages and had it lock up from time to time when overwriting but no explorer errors or blue screens.Maybe forcibly terminating it with ctrl alt + delete one time too many screwed things up.I don't get any glitches with it on xp but there you go - software versions aren't released with 98se in mind now.I'm just happy not to get those explorer error boxes popping up so oftenif the intel extension was causing anything amiss, its a moot point now because its staying removed I don't need it.
