N1K
Microsoft late Monday took the wraps off its new packaging designs for Windows Vista and Office 2007, which are both slated to hit store shelves early next year. Both the style and box itself have been designed to attract the eye, much like Apple does with its products.Picture of Windows Vista and Office 2007 packs HEREStory HERE

LLXX
Wow, what a waste of packaging material...It will include a DVD hopefully. MartinThat would be the only thing I'd care about if I bought this. A single DVD case would already be sufficient.
nitroshift
It's all about eye candy. Vista itself, the packaging, etc... Like a bag of chips: a whole lotta packaging for a few chips Edited November 1, 2006 by nitroshift
fizban2
the new packaging has a two fold effect, 1. smaller packaging = cheaperjust like the video game makes found it, there is no reason for a huge honking box for software. it is a waste of money. the new packaging is big enough to be noticed (especially by the design) and serves the purpose of protecting the DVD, nothing more. 2. Pleasing to the eye. Just like with some of the big selling marks for vista is eye candy. the box looks good and sorta says "look at me i look cool and fast" the box also reminds me of a little macish look to it, but agian that is the plesasing eye candy.
