Please help

I have a uniden walkie talkie did a weak signals mode and the thing responded to it got stronger as I got closer when I got directly to it the signal was very strong then I switch off pc and the signal faded. Any explaination on that.

sorry if I confuse anyone but what I'm trying to say is I pick up a weak signal using a walkie talkie

and thought it is odd esp. when I turn it off and the signal is not there anymore. but when I turn it

on it signal on a different channel each time. Recently it mysterous stop picking up altogether

weird huh.
