RJM
Several days ago my Modem ( Broadxent DI3631 )started to connect to the internet at only 16.8K and I usually had been connecting at over 40K. I down loaded Modem DoctorAnd it reported that the highest speed my modem supported was 19.2K and the memory and the cpu on the modem had both failed. I thought, fine, Ill just take the DI3631 from my old computer that has not even been plugged in for over two years. I unplugged my newer computer installed the modem from my older machine and that modem is now completely dead. Reinstalled 16.8K bad modem – connects at 16.8K. Reinstalled now dead modem – still dead. Off to Newegg to order a new modem. I find it odd that these two modems that I had bought 5 years and one month ago would break at the same time.Although this may not be the case because the totally dead modem could have died anytime in the last two years when it was not plugged in. Thanks for listening, I feel better.

LLXX
Make sure it's really the modems that are dead and not the computer killing them!
