internet explorer and google toolbar

After I initially load IE then opening a 2nd window is normally instant since the executable is cached, however if google toolbar is installed their is a delay and hd activity during the delay.

If I then goto manage addons and disable the "google toolbar helper" IE then loads instantly again and google toolbar seems to remain fully functional.

Does any anyone know what "google toolbar helper" actually does? thanks.

If you don't need a toolbar then just remove it...

I try to keep my browser as clean as possible, no toolbars at all.

I need the toolbar and it still works with that addon disabled.

if goto manage addons with google toolbar installed it has 2 entries the one I disabled and the toolbar itself.
