Virtual Machine Additions

Well... HFSLIP doesn't process VMWare additions specifically, but I made a silent/switchless installer for the VMWare tools (download) which can be installed at T-13; it's based on the installer by RogueSpear. This file should be placed in HFSVCPACK.

I have been using Microsoft's Virtual PC 2004 to test out my slipstreamed Windows 2000 installation. I am constantly tweaking it and having to re-install in Virtual PC. Every time I install from a new iso image, I have to manually re-install virtual machine additions as well. This is a hastle and I would like to know how to slipstream or integrate it into the Windows 2000 install. There must be a way to do this because you can use WinRar to extract the contents of the virtual machines additions ISO that you mount to your virtual cd-rom. Would it be possible to slipstream this like a hotfix, or could you make a silent installer for it?

Thanks for the information. I don't really use VMWare, though I'll give it a try. What I was really looking for is info for slipstreaming or integrating "virtual machine additions" from Microsoft's Virtual PC 2004. If you are willing to experiment with it to try and figure this out, you can download it for free here.

What exactly do you mean by "Virtual Machine Additions"?

Virtual Machine Additions is a program that you install on the guest operating system using Microsoft's Virtual PC. After you install the OS on VPC you need to install VMAs in order to conveniently switch back and forth between the guest and host OS's. You also need it to share files between them. To install VMAs you need to click the Action menu and select "Install or Update Virtual Machine Additions." It then loads an ISO to your virtual cd-rom drive and you install it from there. You can also extract the contents of that ISO using a program like WinRar.

Microsoft now offers Virtual PC for free so you can download and experiment with it by getting it (here).

Ah, OK. So it is the equivalent to the VMWareTools that Tomcat76 mentioned.

I am not familiar with that software, but would expect to find something like that over here . However, a quick search wasn't fruitful. You may want to consider putting in a request in that forum or searching the RyanVM forums.
