Hi, i've been looking for a firewall for a while that DOESN'T require a restart or driver installation - this is so that it can be portable.

I've tried many, but they all need system files, and can't be transported to another machine without installing them.

Also, any ideas on a portable bandwidth monitor, so that after reinstalls i can keep track of my downloads uploads overall?

the only thing i know of is Winpooch which is at best a limited application firewall. but check it out i posted a guide here

Given that a firewall has to hook the network API, it's not surprising that a driver would have to be installed. The hooking can be dynamic, however, although I have yet to see a firewall implement that functionality as static boot-time hooking is usually easier.
