ok, i've got an HP 7915 desktop PC, and i did a mod to it yesterday, i was wondering what you all thought

i took out the annoying plastic fan scoop, and put a 120mm fan where it was. i took out the base and all, the fan went right where that was. i don't have the fan mounted perfectly straight, but its all going out. being as i don't have a way to test the temperature being as my board is not supported. when you opened the case before after 3 hours of running, it would be at least 90 degrees in the case, now its room temperature, which is just about 72.2 degrees [by a thermometer on a clock]. the case feels a little warm, but i do have 2 HDD's in it [because i needed to back stuff up before reformatting the drive].

in doing that, im not causing a problem with hardware by cooling it off so much, i don't think i am, but its worth asking.

im about to put a thermometer in the case, i'll put it on one of the HDD mounts, i'll check it before i go to bed, we'll see how hot it is, but it really can't be much more than 75...i took out the slave drive because i'm finished backing it up....later i'll swap DVD drives, but i'll let that wait.

the air going in was the equivelent of an asthmatic breathing through a straw. there was a scoop that went over the CPU fan, which is just 4500RPM, 60mm...not the greatest for intake. there are vents on the front of the case for air to get in, so i'm hardly worried about it blowing out too much air.

i also fitted it with cables i customized. i took 40 wire flat cables for hard drives, and made slits every 8 wires, then took wire ties and bound it together, optical drives, hard drive, and even the floppy. thats helping keep the temp way down, they aren't wide enough to trap heat anymore, which is something i'm proud of. the case is pretty small, so there was no worries about them not reaching.

i just checked the thermometer, it says barely over 50 degrees celcius.
