wachu13 Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Hi allI have problem with my dell computer. I have to install windows xp on it, because system crash, but I don't have any recovery cd. I called dell but they don't have recovery cd for this model anymore. On the tower is Certificate of Authenticity with Product key (win xp home). I tryed install win xp home from my other computer (oem cd) but I can't activated by internet. Why? The product key on the tower is legal. What kind of windows cd I need so I can activate by internet without any problems? I don't want to spend 100$ for new windows.Another question: activate windows by phone is only one time or I have to call every time when in the future I want to reinstall windows again?
LLXX Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Is there an I386 folder somewhere on the hard drive? That is, if you haven't formatted it already...If there is, just run the WINNT.EXE in it from DOS, this will initiate the Windows Installation procedure. You should also read the manual, recovery information may be stored in a hidden partition.
wachu13 Posted September 12, 2006 Author Posted September 12, 2006 This model don't have hidden partition with recovery informations and I386 folder is alredy gone
deda Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 English isn't my native idiom.Hi!Try the telephone! When you activate windows this option is showed (try it again with your OEM version).Just click it, and inform what country you are, then a list with phone numbers appears. Keep the information from your Certificate on hands, you'll be asked for it. I think it works!Good luck!
