dumpy Posted August 22, 2003 Posted August 22, 2003 I have installed Windows 2003 Server and tweaked it to act as a workstation. All works well except that when I open a folder in the left pane of Windows Explorer there is quite a long delay in displaying the contents in the right pane. The more contents the longer delay. At times it even stops responding. This does not happen when I display drive contents. Any ideas or suggestion?ThanksP4 2.4 ghz768mb DDR 2100
b0r3d Posted August 29, 2003 Posted August 29, 2003 Probably due to the fact that, much alike XP, has an issue with RAM leaking and Explorer.exe
Tinker Posted August 29, 2003 Posted August 29, 2003 I have been getting the same thing only with XP Pro. I fell your pain. If I ever figure out what happened I will report it. This has only been going on with my system for the past 3 or 4 days......
b0r3d Posted August 29, 2003 Posted August 29, 2003 Trust me .. its omnipitant within windows.Try this:Open up explorer.Open up your task manager to the perfance tabNow, with that open, left click on a file in explorer (any file, doesnt matter) then right click it. Notice the CPU usage. Nothing strange right? Now, right click a file, witout left clicking it first, and observe your CPU usage. What do you notice?
Tinker Posted August 29, 2003 Posted August 29, 2003 I see a Max of 25% either way. So what is your point?
humble3d Posted August 29, 2003 Posted August 29, 2003 Did you disable internet explorer's extra security crap in add/remove windows components??
