Messaging on a LAN

Can anyone addvise a messaging software to use on a LAN please. We still have Windows NT server and are running XP Pro workstations.

I am using BorgChat. Neat, easy on resources, plenty of options.

For a basic way to send messages on a LAN, use the inbuilt Net Send command. Open a command prompt and use this format:

net send <pc_name> <msg>

mind you that Windows service has been disabled by default as of SP2 for XP, and is frequently used by spammers and adware to send pop up messages.

You can get free mail servers that will run on NT4. No need to allow email off-site if you only need internal messaging.
